Browns vs Texans SGP Picks: Texans Alternate Spread
History is not on the side of Stroud here as rookie quarterbacks are just 2-6 SU in their past eight first-time playoff games. Plus, Playoff Joe (Flacco) is 10-5 SU in the playoffs and 5-0 SU in the Wild Card Playoffs in his career.
But Stroud has been going against the grain all season and the Texans could certainly pose upset potential on their home field where they are 6-3. Cleveland is just 3-5 on the road and as good as their defense has been this season, they have been much different when comparing home and away results.
At home they’ve allowed 3, 3, 28, 17, 0, 10, 27, 17 and 20 points for a combined 125 points.
On the road they’ve allowed 26, 38, 24, 31, 29, 36, 22 and 31 points for a combined 237 points.
So in one fewer road game they’ve given up 112 more points this season.
The Browns are also one of the worst teams when it comes to turnover differential at -9, while the Texans are one of the best at +10.

Browns vs Texans SGP Picks: David Njoku Receiving Yards
In Week 18 David Njoku had six catches for 134 yards and while he was held out of the endzone, he did have four touchdown catches in his previous three games. He also had catch totals of 6, 10 and 6 with receiving totals of 44, 104 and 91 yards in those games.
The Texans have given up 100 catches to opposing tight ends this season, only the Bengals with 107 have given up more. The 975 yards they’ve given up to the position is also the fourth-most.
Njoku has made four or more catches in 13 games this season while the Texans have allowed three or more catches to tight ends in 15 games and four or more catches in 12 games. Whether you target his catches or receiving yards in the alternate markets in this SGP, you should be good.

Browns vs Texans SGP Picks: Devin Singletary Rushing Yards
When these teams last played on Christmas Eve Devin Singletary was held to just 44 yards on nine carries. Though the Texans were down that whole game, were without Stroud and needed to play catch-up in what ended in a 36-22 defeat.
Assuming this game is more competitive, Singletary should have more success. He should also at least hit 50 yards rushing. He’s finished with 40-plus yards in five-straight games and 60-plus yards in four of those five.
The Browns have given up 111, 84, 44, 35, 88, 65 and 129 yards to their opponents’ top rushers in their recent games.

Browns vs Texans SGP Picks: Both Teams to Score 1+ TD & 1+ FG
Both teams score well over 20 PPG, with Cleveland 10th (23.3) and Houston 13th (22.2).
Flacco alone has thrown for 13 touchdown passes in his only five games with the Browns. Meanwhile, Stroud has thrown 14 TDs in his last eight games. That’s not counting rushing touchdowns scored by either team either.
Win or lose it should be safe that both get at least one touchdown, so then it comes down to the kicking games.
I look at it this way. Both teams should be able to move the ball. But both will be facing above-average defenses. The Browns are 1st in yards allowed per game while the Texans are 14th. So both offenses could move the ball but see drives stall out in field goal range.
For Houston, kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn has missed just one field goal all season being 27-28. He’s kicked back-to-back 51-yard field goals in his last two games as well.
There is more of a question in the Cleveland kicking game with Dustin Hopkins doubtful on the Browns vs Texans injury report with a hamstring injury. He had been one of the league’s top kickers going 33-36 and kicking at least one field goal in every game prior to getting injured on Christmas Eve when these teams last played.
The Browns signed Riley Patterson from Detroit to replace him and he’s gone 1-1 in field goal kicking and 6-7 in extra-points. With the Lions he was 15-17 kicking field goals and 35-37 in XPs.
