Thinking about playing a Super Bowl touchdown prop bet? Well, here’s some good news.

It can be stated with a 96.4% degree of probability that both teams will score a touchdown in Super Bowl 57 between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. During the 56 previous Super Bowl games, both teams have found the end zone in 54 games.

Only the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3 losers to the New England Patriots in the 2019 Super Bowl, and the Miami Dolphins, who were whipped 24-3 by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1972 Super Bowl game, have failed to score a TD when looking at historical Super Bowl betting trends.

Of course, that means all of the time, the winning team in the big game scores at the very minimum an anytime touchdown. Considering that Kansas City (29.2 points per game) is the NFL’s top-scoring offense, while Philadelphia is third overall (28.1 points per game), it shouldn’t be out of the question to expect offensive fireworks on Super Bowl Sunday.

Neither the Chiefs or Eagles have ever failed to score a TD in their previous Super Bowl appearances.

Other trends of late – the team that ultimately won the game has scored the first TD in each of the past five Super Bowls.

The Eagles are 2-point favorites in the Super Bowl odds. In the NFL public betting trends, the spread is showing favored Philadelphia drawing significant action. The Super Bowl Game is set for Sunday, February 12 at State Farm Stadium. FOX is carrying the broadcast, with a 6:30 pm ET kickoff.

The Super Bowl features the top-scoring quarterback and tight end in the NFL this season. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts scored 13 TDs during the regular season. Chiefs TE Travis Kelce found the end zone a dozen times.

Both players have added two more TDs each during the NFL postseason.

It’s important to remember with a TD prop that only the player who scores the TD counts. Touchdown passes do not enter into the equation.

Chiefs Touchdown Stats

Both Kelce and QB Patrick Mahomes have scored TDs for the Chiefs in a Super Bowl game. They each found the end zone in Kansas City’s 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the 2020 Super Bowl.

The Chiefs will close out the NFL season in the same stadium when they kicked off the 2022 campaign. In Week 1, Kansas City went to Arizona and put a 44-21 whipping on the hometown Cardinals at State Farm Stadium. That’s the site of this season’s Super Bowl game.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire scored a pair of TDs in that contest. Also finding the end zone for KC were Kelce, Jody Fortson, Mecole Hardman and Isiah Pacheco, the latter with his first career NFL TD.

Kansas City Chiefs TD Totals

Player TDs
Travis Kelce 15
Jerick McKinnon 10
Clyde Edwards-Helaire 6
Mecole Hardman 6
Isiah Pacheco 5
Patrick Mahomes 4
Marques Valdez-Scantling 4
JuJu Smith-Schuster 3
Jody Fortson 2
Noah Gray 2
Kadarius Toney 2
Justin Watson 2
Blake Bell 1
Willie Gay Jr 1
Ronald Jones II 1
Jaylen Watson 1

Edwards-Helaire could be an interesting sleeper in the Super Bowl TD props. He’s been on injured reserve due to a high ankle sprain for the past nine games. The third-year running back scored six TDs in 10 games. He’s eligible for activation from IR and could be back for the Super Bowl. However, he’s only scored one TD in six NFL postseason games.

These are the Chiefs who’ve scored the game’s first TD this season:

  • Travis Kelce 5
  • Jerick McKinnon 3
  • Kadarius Toney 2
  • Mecole Hardman
  • JuJu Smith-Schuster
  • Isiah Pacheco

Kelce has scored the first TD in both of Kansas City’s playoff games this season. He also scored the first TD of Kansas City’s season-opening victory over the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.

Eagles Touchdown Stats

The Eagles have displayed a running back-by-committee format when it comes to scoring rushing TDs throughout the 2022 season. During the playoffs, Miles Sanders scored a pair of rushing TDs in the NFC Championship Game against the 49ers.

Boston Scott has run for TDs in both of Philadelphia’s postseason games. Hurts also has a rushing TD in each Eagles playoff game.

Philadelphia Eagles TD Totals

Player TDs
Jalen Hurts 15
Miles Sanders 13
AJ Brown 11
DeVonta Smith 8
Kenneth Gainwell 5
Boston Scott 5
Dallas Goedert 4
Quez Watkins 3
James Bradberry 1
Gardner Minshew II 1
Zach Pascal 1
Josh Sweat 1

When Philadelphia won 20-17 at Arizona during Week 5, Hurts ran for the first two TDs of the game. So he’s already scored both a first and an anytime TD this season at State Farm Stadium.

The Eagles have scored the game’s opening TD in both of their playoff victories. Along with his 13 TDs this season, Hurts is among eight Eagles who’ve scored the first TD of a game this season, including a defensive TD from defensive end Josh Sweat. Sanders scored the first two TDs in the NFC Championship Game.

These are the Eagles who’ve scored the game’s first TD this season:

  • Miles Sanders 4
  • Jalen Hurts 3
  • Dallas Goedert 2
  • AJ Brown
  • Kenneth Gainwell
  • DeVonta Smith
  • Boston Scott
  • Josh Sweat

Super Bowl Touchdown Picks

Philadelphia was a 1.5-point pick in the opening Chiefs vs Eagles odds, while Philly QB Hurts is the chalk in the Super Bowl MVP odds.

Both Hurts and Sanders are -110 favorites to be Super Bowl anytime TD scorers. It’s Sanders who is the +600 chalk to be the first TD scorer in the big game. Eagles RB Boston Scott (+475) has a TD in each of the past three games.

Someone to steer clear of in the TD prop wagering on the Philadelphia roster is WR AJ Brown. He’s gone a season-high three consecutive games without a TD. He’s caught one TD pass over the past six games. Brown has accumulated just 50 receiving yards through two playoff games.

Since coming to the Chiefs in a trade with the New York Giants, Kadarius Toney has scored two TDs and both were the first TD of the game. He’s +1700 to snare the first TD of the Super Bowl.

Kelce is a solid favorite among KC players in both first (+750) and anytime (-115) TD props. Not getting any love from the oddsmakers is Mahomes. Even though he’s one of two players in this game with a previous Super Bowl TD on his resume, his questionable ankle is turning the usually elusive Mahomes into more of a pocket passer. Bettors can access +500 odds for a Mahomes anytime TD and +2800 on a Mahomes first TD.
