Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is one of the more interesting players entering the NFL Draft.

Bennett led Georgia to the last two national championships. However, he is also 25 years old and has few physical attributes that necessarily stand out to scouts.

The oddsmakers believe Bennett won’t be selected in the draft, which will be held from April 27-29.

Not Drafted +120
Round 7 +175
Round 6 +300
Round 5 +550

The odds favor Bennett not being drafted. With the odds set at +120, it implies there is a 45.45% chance he will not be selected. The odds of Bennett being a first-round pick are +7500, which gives him a 1.32% implied probability in the NFL Draft odds. Odds as of February 27th at DraftKings.

Two-Time National Champion

No one can deny Bennett has a winning pedigree. Back-to-back national titles are evidence of that.

Last season, Bennett completed 68.1% of his passes for 4,128 yards and 27 touchdowns while being intercepted seven times. He threw for 8,429 yards in 41 career games for the Bulldogs with 66 TDs and 21 picks.

What works against Bennett the most in the eyes of NFL talent evaluators is his lack of size. He stands just 5-foot-11 and weighs 200 pounds.

NFL teams have shown more of a willingness to draft smaller quarterbacks in recent years. However, most of those players have been utilized in run-pass option offenses.

Bennett showed the ability to run in college but not to the level where he could be an RPO QB in the NFL. Timed at 4.67 seconds in the 40-yard dash, Bennett is too slow to be a running quarterback in the pros.

What the Experts Think About Stetson Bennett’s Draft Odds

Bennett is not rated among the top quarterbacks available in the draft. None of ESPN’s experts had him in their top five QBs.

NFL Draft Buzz seems the highest on Bennett, rating him as the eighth-best quarterback. He is ranked No. 9 by Pro Football Focus, No. 12 by CBS Sports and No. 13 by Walter Football.

Bennett’s lack of consistency in throwing the deep ball is cited as a detriment by those outlets. However, he does draw praise for his accuracy on intermediate and short routes as well as his ability to read defenses and make quick adjustments at the line of scrimmage.

However, his lack of size – he doesn’t have the frame to put on much weight – and age are also considered detriments. At 25, he’ll be entering the NFL at an age when most quarterbacks have already established themselves.

Someone Will Take a Shot on Bennett

Yes, Bennett has drawbacks, and being arrested in January for public intoxication might be a red flag for some teams.

However, his winning pedigree should not be discounted. It should also be noted that he won his two national championships while playing in the SEC, generally regarded as the toughest conference in college football.

Bennett impressed on the field in college enough that somebody will take a shot in the latter rounds. Round 6 seems like a good bet.

Pick: Stetson Bennett to be Selected in Round 6 (+300)
