- The Two are separated by a single point for second in the Metropolitan Division
- See the Rangers vs Devils odds ahead of puck drop from New Jersey on Saturday at 1:00 pm ET
After a pair of 5-3 wins, the New York Rangers were riding high. And a Thursday night trip to Montreal saw their winning ways continue. The Rangers downed the Canadiens 4-1 for their third win in a row.
The Devils are at home for the fifth time in the last seven games. But the Prudential Center confines have been anything but friendly. New Jersey hasn’t won at home since December 6th. A streak that the Blues were happy to extend on Thursday.
The two square off in New Jersey at 1:00 pm on Saturday, kicking off the NHL’s weekend slate.

Despite the Devils’ lengthy home losing streak hasn’t kept New Jersey from being home favorites on Saturday. The two are pretty evenly matched. New York is averaging 3.3 goals per game with New Jersey scoring 3.4. They’re allowing 2.7 and 2.6 respectively.
The Devils currently sit in a tie for seventh in the Stanley Cup odds at +1400. New York is behind them in at 12th with +2000 odds.
New York Rangers Betting Trends
After a pair of losses that saw New York score one goal total, the offense has been clicking again in a big way.
The Rangers scored 5-3 wins over the Panthers and Hurricanes before downing the Habs. That win over Carolina was especially important considering their standing in the Metropolitan Division.
Eight different goal scorers have contributed on this three-game winning streak.
Rangers: Last Five Games

---|---|---|---|
Jan 5 @ MTL | 4-1 NYR | -190 | 6.5 () |
Jan 3 vs CAR | 5-3 NYR | +105 | 5.5 (Over) |

Dec 29 @ TB | 2-1 (SO) TB | +125 | 6.5 (Under) |

Mika Zibanejad has had a starring role in those two 5-3 wins. Zibanejad scored twice in the game against Florida, and added a goal and an assist against Carolina.Since the start of December, Zibanejad has eight goals and 18 points in 16 games.
Unbelievably enough – even though it’s January, Rangers/Devils tomrw is a pretty big game, standings wise. And it’s played at 1p ET, which I hate. Hockey should never be played before 7p ET.

Zibanejad has a goal and an assist in two games against the Devils this year.
New Jersey Devils Betting Trends
The Devils’ offense has been red hot lately.
Win or lose, they’ve been scoring. New Jersey had four or more goals in three-straight entering Thursday night. But they’ve had some trouble keeping the puck out of their net. The Devils have given up three or more goals in six of their last nine games.
Devils: Last Five Games

---|---|---|---|
Jan 5 vs STL | 5-3 STL | -175 | 6.5 (Over) |
Jan 4 @ DET | 5-1 NJD | -145 | 6.5 (Under) |

Jack Hughes scored a pair of goals on Thursday night, extending his breakout campaign. Hughes has 24 goals and 46 points in 38 games this year. He’s two goals and 10 points away from matching his career highs.
Nothing to say except a bad loss tonight at home. Really unacceptable considering how depleted the #STLBlues were.
Hats off to Binnington tonight. He really was solid.
Back at it on Saturday vs the #Rangers . Devils better bring their A+ game…#THPN #NJDevils

Nico Hischier is another Devil on pace for a career year, with 18 goals and 19 assists so far. Hischier is riding a six game point streak, and has scored a goal in five straight.
Rangers vs Devils Pick
Oddsmakers like the fact that the Devils are at home, even though it’s been a month since they picked up a win there. And considering both teams have dangerous pieces on offense, banking on scoring is a good play.
Rangers vs Devils: Same Game Parlay
Bet | Odds |
---|---|
New Jersey Devils Outright | -137 |
Jesper Bratt to score | +170 |
Total Odds | +270 |
*Odds from Barstool Sportsbook as of January 6
Bratt is an interesting choice. Sitting second on the Devils in scoring, Bratt has four goals in his last 13 games, but that’s thanks to two two-goal games. He had 10 goals in his previous 21 games.
If you’re feeling especially bold? Mix in Chris Kreider as an anytime scorer (+148) and Barstool bumps your odds to +1050.
Overall the Devils’ home losing streak has to end at some point, and they’ve split the season series with a win and an overtime loss against the Rangers. New Jersey gets back in the win column on Saturday.
The Pick: New Jersey Devils (-137)
