Stanley Cup odds are an afterthought for both teams as they battle for the rights of Connor Bedard and the top overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Faceoff is set for 10:00 pm ET at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California broadcasted on Hulu, TVAS and SN1. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

San Jose Sharks Betting Analysis

San Jose represents a younger team with some veterans that is in clear transition. There are nights when the Sharks look almost like a playoff team. There are others when San Jose resembles more of an AHL squad. Lately, an even mix of both has them 4-4-2 in their previous ten contests. There is a bit of a contradiction between these two teams and trends a bit oddly.

Typically, few could have seen the re-emergence of Erik Karlsson coming. Karlsson showed a flash here and there in the past few seasons, but nothing like this. Not surprisingly, the Swede got named to the All-Star Team and has 53 points in 39 games on one of the worst teams in hockey.

Karlsson, at 32. leads the San Jose offense with 14 power-play points and is third in goals with 13 from the blue line. That injection of offense has boosted the Sharks goal output to just over three per contest. He, Timo Meier, and Tomas Hertl along with some younger talent make this team watchable even from a bettor’s perspective.

Anaheim Ducks Betting Analysis

Now, the Anaheim Ducks, are a little different. They possess an erratic offense and defense which often leaves their goaltending out to dry err pasture. Anaheim resides in last place in the Pacific Division because players like Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry can only do so much until they take those next steps in their game. Anaheim allows a whopping 38.2 shots per game (worst in the NHL).

The Ducks have been allowing more than four goals per game this season and have been a haven for those who want to wager the over against them. Naturally, this latest stretch has seen the under come into some focus.

Also, it does not hurt to have a goalie like John Gibson and Lukas Dostal. Their odds to win the Vezina Trophy lay steady at basically astronomical. However, six of the past seven Ducks contests have seen a combined five or fewer goals scored. That one was a backdoor over. Then, there are the recent results.

Sharks vs Ducks Prediction

Now, San Jose enjoyed a home respite after the holidays with five days off before this game. The Sharks are on the road tonight before entertaining the Boston Bruins tomorrow night.

Sharks vs Ducks Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Anaheim Moneyline +115
Under 6.5 Goals -115
PARLAY ODDS  +275

The risk lies not with the moneyline, but with that over or under. Which one does a bettor go with? This is kind of a coin flip.

Here lies a game where past matchups go in direct conflict with previous ten-game runs for both teams. Do the Sharks and Ducks play like they have lately or how the teams usually do against each other? It’s an excellent question. Take a swing on some San Jose rust and better Anaheim play.

Pick: Anaheim vs San Jose Under 6.5 Goals (-115)
