  • The NASCAR Playoff Chase continues segment two with the YellaWood 500 set to run on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022
  • Several contenders include Chase Elliott, Austin Cindric, Kyle Larson, and maybe even Bubba Wallace and Ryan Blaney
  • Below are the YellaWood 500 betting odds and trends ahead of Sunday afternoon

NASCAR heads to Talladega in Alabama for race number 31 of the 2022 season. The Talladega Superspeedway is a behemoth 2.66-mile track characterized by extremely high-bank turns of 32-33 degrees. This includes a tri-oval that has a 16.5 degree bank too. Chase Elliott and his Chevy are listed as a slight betting favorite. Can a Ford or another Chevy nab the checkered flag?

This is a week after the AutoTrader Echopark Automotive 500, where Tyler Reddick won a caution filled race full of crashes, bumps, and more.

Here are the YellaWood 500 odds.

Elliott enters this race as a +1200 favorite to win, followed closely by Kyle Larson at +1400. Then comes a bunch of drivers all in that +1300 to +1600 range. This is a superspeedway so expect lots of carnage. With all that banking, it does not take much for crashes and such.

NASCAR drivers will start their engines on the 2.66-mile, 60-60-68 stage lap setup when the flag drops for the Sunday afternoon race beginning around 2:00 pm ET on NBC Network.

Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney Lead Way at Talladega?

Yes, this sounds and looks very odd. but with the superspeedway comes some different odds via other sportsbooks. For example, Caesars lists Bubba Wallace, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney as co-favorites at +1200. Logano and Blaney from Team Penske are going to generate a good deal of buzz here. Blaney has two wins here and Logano won this race in 2015 and 2016.

Now, Chase Elliott still stands tied for second at Caesars this week at +1300.  Denny Hamlin is +1300 also at Caesars but Kyle Larson remains +1400. The Caesars Sportsbook odds are just a reshuffling of some of the top drivers.

Who wins the October 2nd race at Texas? The “Round of 12” continues Sunday. Finally, not one “Chase” driver has won in the playoffs yet.

The Playoff Chase Soldiers On

Sports bettors are still bullish on Chase Elliott this week. However, the two top Team Penske drivers are or should be among the favorites to advance in the NASCAR Cup Series odds. Remember, Toyota missed its chance last week a bit with Christopher Bell especially. Denny Hamlin recovered but Bell fell the equivalent of a full race behind. Kyle Larson and William Byron are still very much in the picture too.

Segment two’s remaining races (Talladega and the ROVAL) are an odd couple. TrackHouse Racing did well last week with Suarez and Chastain. Plus, their cars set up well for this week and next week too. Again, the odds are so bunched together because it is Talladega. Double-digit cautions and overtime feel almost inevitable.

YellaWood 500 Predictions & Picks

The weather expects to be pleasant Sunday with sun and temperatures apporaching 75.

Next-Gen racing has us well aware to all sorts of issues and lots of banging and crashing.

Finally, look at Kyle Larson for the pole at +850 or even Elliott at +850 too. They may be worth a shot. Drivers like Austin Cindric could battle Bubba Wallace and Blaney for victory along with yes, the aforementioned Ross Chastain.

Here are our best bets:

  • Top Pick: Austin Cindric to Win (+1600 – Barstool)
  • Other Contenders: Ross Chastain (+1600), Ryan Blaney (+1300), Erik Jones (+2800), Daniel Suarez (+2500)
