Giallorossi had to claw their way through the UEL knockout rounds last month, beating Red Bull Salzburg 2-1 across two legs. As for Sociedad, they won Group E, even finishing above Manchester United with a 5-0-1 record. That earned them an automatic berth in the last 16.

Jose Mourinho’s men are in the midst of a solid campaign domestically, currently sitting in the final Champions League spot in Serie A through 25 games. They’ve tasted defeat just once in their last five league appearances and come into Thursday’s clash very inspired, beating Juventus over the weekend in thrilling fashion.

Consistency tends to be an issue, but Roma will be confident knowing they’re much better on home turf. Mourinho’s side has tasted defeat a mere two times in their last 33 matches at Stadio Olimpico in European competition.
Sociedad is also enjoying a respectable season over in La Liga, occupying the fourth place. That being said, The White and Blues aren’t winning a whole lot as of late, collecting a mere two victories in their previous eight domestic outings. That includes three losses and three draws, with the latest coming on Friday.
Imanol Alguacil’s group settled for a scoreless stalemate with 15th-place Cadiz in a fixture where Sociedad frankly should’ve easily grabbed three points. They controlled 72% of the ball and had a total of 15 shots but only three found the target. Producing in the final third tends to be a problem in recent weeks, netting just twice in their previous three outings.
