Arsenal are on the road on Thursday as their Europa League campaign resumes against Sporting in Lisbon. Mikel Arteta’s team won in dramatic fashion to maintain a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League last weekend, and it will be interesting to see how seriously the Spaniard takes this competition. They are second favorites in Europa League odds to lift the trophy at the time of writing and +110 favorites to win this match in the Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal odds.
Having been knocked out of the Champions League, Sporting are aiming to reach the last eight of a major European competition for the first time since 2017-18. They have success against English opposition already this season, notching a win and a draw against Tottenham.
Arsenal have been Europa League regulars over the last few seasons. Arteta saw his team knocked out at the semi-final stage last term, and they were runners-up in 2018-19.

Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal Over/Under and Spread
The bookies are not expecting an especially high-scoring encounter here for this Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal prediction. The over/under is set at 2.5, but they are leaning towards the under with a -126 price. The over is at +102 for punters fancying three or more goals. For the spread, Arsenal -1 is +320. Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal Preview
Both sides enter this matchup on four-match winning streaks. Sporting has kept three clean sheets in a row, including in the second leg against Midtjylland. Arsenal bounced back from their defeat to Manchester City with a string of important victories, but they have required late winners to beat both Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
Rúben Amorim was 36 when he led Sporting to their first league title in 19 years.
At 40 years old, Mikel Arteta has Arsenal on course to win their first league title in 19 years.

Form in UEFA competitions has been a concern for Sporting prior to their drubbing of Midtjylland. They drew once and lost three times in their final four Champions League matches. It is just one win at home with losses to Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt. Domestically, they have lost three times to Porto and drew with Benfica. Aside from emphatic wins over Braga, there is little evidence the Verde e brancos can compete with high-caliber opposition.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have not been great on the road of late, losing two of their last four. The two wins in that span were hardly dominant showings. Arteta is bound to rotate here, too, leaving them vulnerable to an upset. Sunday’s match against Fulham is naturally the Gunners’ priority as they eye their first Premier League title in two decades.

Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal Prediction
On paper, this should be a routine Arsenal win in the Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal predictions. Sporting’s victory over Tottenham serves as a warning to Arteta, but the Gunners are miles clear of their north London rivals this season.
Rotation is a factor for bettors to consider before backing Arsenal, yet Arteta named some strong teams in the group stage and will surely continue that trend into the knockout rounds. Which regulars get left out for this one?
The +110 on Arsenal to win the match is reasonable enough, but we feel more comfortable taking the double chance with the draw as some insurance against rotation.
First legs are often cautious affairs, and that likely leads to a low-scoring match. Pair the double chance with under 3.5 total goals.
Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal Picks: Arsenal to win or draw and under 3.5 total goals (-137)
