Both the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams may be missing their starting tight ends for Sunday’s Super Bowl game due to injury.

For Cincinnati, CJ Uzomah suffered a left MCL sprain in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Rams TE Tyler Higbee sprained his left MCL as Los Angeles was defeating the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

Uzomah is currently being listed as questionable in the Super Bowl injury report. Higbee though is listed as doubtful to play in the big game

Let’s take a first look at the injury report for both of these teams ahead of Sunday’s 6:30 pm ET kickoff at SoFi Stadium in California. The Rams are 4.5-point favorites in the Super Bowl odds. However, NFL money splits are leaning toward the Bengals.

Los Angeles Rams Injury Report

Player Position Injury Game Status
Tyler Higbee TE hamstring Doubtful
Andrew Whitworth T Quadriceps Questionable
Joe Noteboom T Chest Doubtful
Cam Akers RB Shoulder Questionable
Grant Haley CB Quadriceps Questionable
Christian Rozeboom LB Chest Questionable
Van Jefferson WR knee Questionable
Ernest Jones ILB Ankle Out (IR)
Jordan Fuller SS Ankle Out (IR)
Robert Woods WR Knee Out (IR)

Higbee is a vital cog in the Los Angeles offense. His five touchdown receptions during the regular season were third among Rams receivers. At 6-foot-6, 255 pounds, he’s an imposing presence for opponents to defend.

He’s caught nine passes for 115 yards in the postseason. That’s a per-catch average of 12.77 yards, ahead of his regular-season pace of 9.2 yards per reception.

Rams coach Sean McVay doesn’t expect Higbee to practice at all this week. His status for the Super Bowl is to be determined, according to McVay.

In Higbee’s absence, Kendall Blanton caught all five of his targets for 57 yards. Might be someone worth considering in a Super Bowl player prop wager.

Other Rams Injury Concerns

Left tackle and running back could also be issues for LA. Offensive lineman Joe Noteboom is another whose game-day status remains uncertain. He’s doubtful with a pectoral injury. Noteboom’s been filling in for veteran starter Andrew Whitworth. He’s listed as questionable with a quadriceps injury.

At RB, Cam Akers is questionable due to a shoulder ailment. However, McVay is confident that RB Darrell Henderson (MCL) will be activated off IR for the game.

The Rams are also counting on the return of DT Sebastian Joseph-Day from IR. He started the first seven games prior to suffering a chest injury. He recorded three sacks in those seven games.

Uzomah Insists He’s Playing In Super Bowl

Looking to fire up the fan base, Uzomah ripped the brace from his injured knee during a Bengals Super Bowl rally. He’s adamant that he won’t be missing the biggest game of his NFL career.

Uzomah lasted just nine snaps against KC before he was hurt. Like Higbee, Uzomah was good for five TD catches during the regular season. He’s added another TD in the playoffs.

Uzomah has snared 13 receptions for 135 yards in postseason play. That works out to 10.38 yards per catch.

In Uzomah’s absence against the Chiefs, backup Drew Sample was targeted just twice all game. He caught one pass for four yards.

Carman Only Other Uncertain Cinci Starter

Right guard Jackson Carman is the only Bengals starter who is questionable to play in the Super Bowl. He’s dealing with a back injury. However, backup Hakeem Adeniji has actually started more games this season (nine) than Carman (six).

Backup wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr is questionable with a hamstring injury. He is one of Cincinnati’s top kick returners.
