The 2026 WNBA Finals tip-off this afternoon, as the Western Conference-champion Golden State Valkyries (32-12, 17-5 home) host the Eastern Conference-champion Atlanta Dream (30-14, 15-7 away) in Game 1 of the best-of-five series. Scheduled for 3:30 PM ET, this championship series features two squads that have flat-out bulldozed their playoff competition.
The Valkyries enter the Finals boasting a 5-1 overall postseason record (2-1 vs Dallas, 3-0 vs Las Vegas), while the Dream are a perfect 5-0 after sweeping Washington and New York.
Oddsmakers have positioned Golden State as the home favorite to open the series, leaving the undefeated Dream in the underdog role. Keep reading for the Dream vs Valkyries expert picks and predictions for Game 1, below.

Oddsmakers at BetMGM have established the Valkyries as -2.5 point home favorites, with the game total resting at 154.5 points. The spread and total lines have remained relatively steady, though Golden State’s spread price adjusted slightly from -110 to -105.
The moneyline has experienced much more noticeable movement. Golden State opened at -130 and shifted to -154. Meanwhile, Atlanta moved from an opening line of +110 to their current +130 price.

Pick: Golden State Valkyries moneyline (59 / -144 at Kalshi)
My favorite bet is the Valkyries moneyline. Grab the Kalshi promo code to tail this wager. Golden State is a slight favorite in the WNBA Championship odds with a 32-12 regular season, a 17-5 home record and a 5-1 postseason run.
The Valkyries have shown they can win in more than one way: they opened the playoffs with a 24-point Dallas blowout, then clinched that series with a four-point win, before sweeping Las Vegas. In the semifinal clincher, they won 87-77 in overtime on the road, evidence they can handle pressure away from Chase Center as well as protect home court.
The matchup history gives that form a direct connection to Atlanta. Golden State swept all three regular-season meetings, 77-66, 78-75 and 88-83, including a road win. Atlanta arrives 5-0 in the playoffs and should not be discounted: the Dream scored 92, 93, 92, 101 and 85 in their five wins (92.6 PPG average).
Yet Golden State has already shown it can contain them, holding Atlanta to 66 and 75 in the first two meetings before surviving an 88-83 shootout. That range of outcomes favors the team with more demonstrated matchup answers.
Golden State’s playoff production is not a one-player proposition. Gabby Williams leads at 22.7 points per game, but Tiffany Hayes adds 13.3, Kayla Thornton 10.8 and Veronica Burton 9.5; Burton also supplies four assists per game. Kiah Stokes anchors the interior with 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.
Those contributions match the results: in three wins over Las Vegas, a different player led Golden State in scoring each time. If Atlanta focuses on Williams, Golden State has other credible options; if the Dream attack inside, Stokes offers rim protection.
Atlanta’s form makes the opener a tough test, so taking Golden State on the moneyline rather than laying 2.5 points is sensible.
