Deion Sanders Colorado debut is certainly off to a fascinating start. An announced attendance of over 47,000 fans attended Colorado’s spring game, more than the last nine iterations combined. Coach Prime appeared in a white cowboy hat and puffy vest on a blisteringly cold day in Boulder. One thing is certain, Prime knows how to put on a show. However, while the show will go on, it may not have a positive effect on Colorado’s 2023 Win Total.

Buffaloes’ legends Jeremy Bloom, Michael Westbrook, Kordell Stewart, Mason Crosby, and Alfred Williams attended Saturday’s Spring Game to offer their support. While the current team showed promise and plenty of energy, questions remain about Colorado’s ability to compete in a loaded Pac-12.

Under 4.5 -142

After sitting at 5.5 in December’s CFB Win Total odds, the Buffaloes win total now sits at just 4.5. Apparently sportsbooks have wizened up to the fact that a massive swing in the win column is too much for even the great Deion Sanders to orchestrate in just one off-season.

Colorado’s 2023 Win Total Drops to 4.5

After securing the services of Jackson State transfers Travis Hunter and Shadeur Sanders, Coach Prime has put together the number 1 transfer team ranking in the nation. In the wake of bringing in a total of 28 commits and counting, this season’s Buffaloes will have a completely different look than last year’s one-win team.

Sanders will undoubtedly add even more talent to his squad during the current transfer window. Using his brand and “I ain’t hard to find” hashtag, Coach Prime likely has a few more splash plays up his sleeve.

That being said, showmanship doesn’t win college football games. While the Buffaloes’ offense showed potential, their defense looked completely discombobulated during Saturday’s spring game. Communication breakdowns led to the easiest 98-yard touchdown you’ll ever see, and had multiple defenders running into each other on numerous occasions.

If the spring game is any indication, this team has little hope of stopping the powerful spread attacks in the Pac-12. Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and USC standout Caleb Williams will enjoy the opportunity to boost their Heisman campaigns against Colorado.

Best Bet for Colorado’s 2023 Win Total

While analyzing Colorado’s schedule, it’s tough to surmise exactly how the Buffaloes get to five wins. Meeting National Championship finalists TCU in week 1 will be a rude awakening for this team. Victories over Nebraska and Colorado State in the following weeks would be expected, but are no sure thing. After that, difficult contests against Oregon, USC, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State, Washington State, and Utah await.

At this point, a trip to Arizona State in October, and later a visit from Arizona look like the Buffaloes’ easiest path to even four wins. A truly seismic upset would have to take place for Colorado to reach five.

While the Prime effect has been incredible at injecting new life into Colorado’s program, whether that translates to wins remains to be seen. This year’s Buffaloes’ squad may trot out as many as twenty new starters! Playing winning football in a competitive conference, with a difficult schedule will be an arduous task. Bet the under on Colorado’s 2023 Win Total.

Pick: Colorado’s 2023 Win Total Under 4.5 (-142)
