  • The Bengals vs Ravens injury reports show the home team has been harder hit by injuries
  • Baltimore is thin at running back with Justice Hill (hamstring) and Gus Edwards (knee) out
  • Cincinnati WR Tee Higgins (ankle) is expected to play; see the full Ravens vs Bengals injury report below

Both the Baltimore Ravens (2-2, 2-1-1 ATS) and Cincinnati Bengals (2-2, 2-2 ATS) are hurting at the skill positions as they ready for a key AFC North matchup on the NFL Week 5 SNF slate.

The Ravens are going to be without WR Rashod Bateman (foot) and RB Justice Hill (hamstring), which could impact the NFL odds on this game.

Cincinnati’s injury list is much shorter and far less serious. Both WR Tee Higgins (ankle) and TE Hayden Hurst (groin) are expecting to play.

Baltimore is a 3-point home favorite for this game

Cincinnati Bengals Injury Report

Higgins was limited all week in practice, but was able to participate every day, which is always a good sign that a player is trending toward playing. Indeed, toward the end of the week, the Bengals were assuring everyone that Higgins was in fact going to be in the lineup against the Ravens.

Another factor in the Bengals vs Ravens picks is that Cincinnati TE Hayden Hurst is questionable with a groin injury. Although he did not practice on Friday, the Bengals are reporting that Hurst will be playing on Sunday night.

That could be of vital importance. Cincinnati is hurting at TE. Drew Sample is on IR and Devin Asiasi (ankle) is also listed as questionable on the injury report. That leaves Mitchell Wilcox as the club’s only 100% healthy TE.

The Bengals report no other injuries among players on the first or second string of the team’s depth chart on offense or defense.

Baltimore Ravens Injury Report

In the Bengals vs Ravens public betting splits, the Ravens are getting 53% of ATS bets, even though it appears that they will again be thin at running back.

JK Dobbins is back to health after missing the start of the season during his recovery from a knee injury suffered last season. The same ailment is keeping Gus Edwards out of action. Edwards has resumed practicing and is progressing toward a return, though it won’t be in Week 5.

Added to sick bay from the RB room is Justice Hill. He injured a hamstring in last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Originally, it wasn’t thought to be a serious issue. However, as the week progressed, it became evident that Hill wouldn’t be playing in the SNF game against the Bengals.

A foot injury that limited WR Rashod Bateman to just 44% of snaps in the 23-20 loss to the Bills will be keeping him right out of action this week. Bateman hasn’t been able to practice in the days leading up to the game.

Strong side LB Justin Houston (groin) is also out. LCB Marcus Peters (quadricep) didn’t practice Friday and speculation is he’ll be out. However, LT Ronnie Stanley (ankle) is projecting to make his first start of the season.

How Could Injuries Affect Bengals vs Ravens Betting Lines?

Baltimore suits up the NFL’s worst pass defense. The Ravens are allowing 315.3 yards per game through the air.

Higgins playing could prove significant in the Bengals vs Ravens player props. He’s proven to be Cincinnati’s most consistent wideout this season. He’s snared 20-of-28 targets for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Really, though, against Baltimore’s pitiful pass defense, playing the over on pass reception yardage for any of Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, or even Tyler Boyd might make sense.

Hill has proven to be a pleasant surprise for the Ravens. He’s averaging 6.6 yards per carry, so his contribution will be missed. In his absence, Dobbins will need to pick up the slack. Since coming back from his knee issue, he’s carried the ball 20 times for just 64 yards.

Of course, Baltimore’s key rusher is QB Lamar Jackson. He’s carried 37 times for 316 yards. That’s good enough for ninth overall in the NFL.

In the absence of Bateman, look for WR Devin Duvernay and even TE Mark Andrews to see more targets.
