As they face the Philadelphia Eagles (16-3, 7-11-1 ATS) the Kansas City Chiefs (16-3, 10-9 ATS) are back in the Super Bowl for the third time in four years. However, for the first time in that span, they’re arriving at the big game as the underdog in the Chiefs vs Eagles odds.

It’s Philadelphia that oddsmakers have established as 1.5-point favorites in Super Bowl 57. Kansas City won and covered as the chalk against San Francisco in Super Bowl 54. The Chiefs were also favored when they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl 55.

Back in the Super Bowl for the fourth time in franchise history, the Eagles are favored in the Super Bowl odds for the second time. They lost to the Oakland Raiders as the betting chalk in Super Bowl 15. Kansas City is 1-1 both straight up and against the spread in two previous Super Bowl appearances as an underdog.

Regarding the total of 51 points in the Chiefs vs Eagles odds, the public splits are with the over. There’s 57% of handle and 55% of bets going for a big total at US betting sites. Philadelphia is 10-9 on the total this season, while Kansas City is 8-11.

Two Potent Offenses Clashing

The Chiefs (7,032) and Eagles (6,614) were the top two total offenses in the NFL this season. Kansas City was also the #1 passing offense (5,062 yards). The Eagles display more balance, rating in the top 10 of the league in passing (ninth) and rushing (fifth) offense. KC was the NFL’s #20 rushing team.

In terms of scoring offense, Kansas City was #1 (29.2 points per game), while Philly was #3 (28.1). Defensively, Philadelphia (70) and KC (55) were 1-2 in sacks.

Brother Can You Spare a Lombardi Trophy?

For the first time in Super Bowl history, brothers are lining up on opposing sides of the battle. All-Pro tight Travis Kelce is a key cog in the Kansas City offense. He led all NFL TEs this season in receptions (110), receiving yardage (1,338) and TD catches (12). He’s caught another three TD passes during postseason play.

Philadelphia counters with All-Pro center Jason Kelce. Both Jason (Super Bowl 52) and Travis (Super Bowl 54) already have Super Bowl rings.

It’s the second time this season that brothers have gone head-to-head in a major pro sports postseason, and both instances involved Philadelphia. In the NLCS, pitcher Aaron Nola of the Phillies got the better of his brother, San Diego Padres catcher Austin Nola.

Chiefs vs Eagles Injuries – Kansas City WR Hardman Out

Kansas City wide receiver Mecole Hardman is out with a pelvis injury. Two other starting WRs – Juju Smith Schuster (knee) and Kadarius Toney (hamstring/ankle) – have seen their injury designation dropped since the team’s early injury report this week. The Chiefs activated running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire from IR, but he’s since been ruled out.

The Eagles are reporting no injuries. However, backup guard Josh Sills is out. Last week, Sills was indicted by a Guernsey County (Ohio) Common Pleas Court grand jury on one count of alleged rape and one count of the alleged kidnapping. Both charges are first-degree felonies.

Eagles vs Chiefs Prediction

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts were 1-2 in MVP voting. That matchup has happened in three previous Super Bowls and each time, the runner-up won the big game.

Underdogs are 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS when the Super Bowl is played in Arizona. And the NFC team has failed to cover in each of the last four games in which they were Super Bowl favorites. That leads us to backing KC in the Chiefs vs Eagles odds. Want to make this pick and get an instant $200? Simply sign-up to create your account and claim this Super Bowl promotion!
