  • In the Dolphins vs Bills inactive and injury reports for their Wild Card Playoff game on Sunday, January 15, Miami are down to QB3, Skylar Thompson
  • Both QB1 Tua Tagovailoa (concussion protocol) and QB2 Teddy Bridgewater (knee/dislocated finger) are injured for Miami
  • Questionable with a hamstring issue, WR Isaiah McKenzie is the only Buffalo starter showing an injury designation

Add to the many advantages the Buffalo Bills (13-3, 8-7-1 ATS) appear to be piling up over the Miami Dolphins (9-8, 9-8 ATS), the health of their roster. Read on for the Dolphins vs Bills injury report.

While Miami will be starting third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson, the Bills are showing just one starter with any sort of injury designation.

Both QB1 Tua Tagovailoa (concussion protocol) and backup Teddy Bridgewater (knee, dislocated finger) are injured for the Dolphins. It will be Thompson making his second start in a row and third of the season.

Meanwhile, the lone injury among Buffalo’s starters is a hamstring issue that is impacting wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie. He’s listed as questionable.

Buffalo is a 13.5-point home favorite over the Dolphins. Buffalo is 2-3 against the spread as the double-digit point chalk this season.

Kickoff at Highmark Stadium is set for 1:00 pm ET on Sunday, January 15. Broadcast of the game is being carried by CBS.

Buffalo’s healthy roster is certainly making the Bills the people’s choice when it comes to wagering on this game. The people are strongly backing Buffalo in the NFL public betting splits. The Bills are drawing solid advantages in bets and the handle for both moneyline and spread public splits. Buffalo was the 10-point home chalk in the NFL Wild Card Weekend opening odds.

Miami Dolphins Injury Report

Bridgewater is listed as questionable but isn’t expected to play. If their QB woes weren’t enough, the Dolphins will also be missing RB Raheem Mostert (thumb). Starting LG Liam Eichenberg (hand) is out as well. Both starting tackles – Pro Bowl LT Terron Armstead (toe/pectoral) and RT Brandon Shell (knee) – are questionable, as is FB Alec Ingold (thumb).

Defensively, SLB Bradley Chubb (ankle) is also questionable. Among backup players, WR Cedrick Wilson Jr (hip) and T Kendall Lamm (ankle) are questionable and LCB Byron Jones (Achilles) is out.

Buffalo Bills Injury Report

The biggest injury issue the Bills are facing is with their defensive line depth. RDE Von Miller (knee) is on IR and backup RDE AJ Epenesa (ankle) is out. Reserve LDT Jordan Phillips (shoulder) is questionable.

Safety Micah Hyde (neck) has resumed practicing and is eligible to be activated from IR. However, he’s been ruled out for this game.

How Could Injuries Affect the Dolphins vs Bills Lines?

The answer to the above question is fairly obvious. Once the news was verified that Tagovailoa and Bridgewater would both again be sidelined, the line was lengthening considerably in Buffalo’s favor in the Dolphins vs Bills picks.

Thompson did get them a much-needed win last week against the New York Jets to put Miami in the postseason, but it was against another club much like the Dolphins in complete free fall. The Dolphins are 1-5 SU in their past six games and 1-3 SU when Tagovailoa isn’t their starting QB.

They were able to cover in both games against the Bills this season, but that was with Tua under center. Miami is 2-2 ATS when either Bridgewater or Thompson start at QB. Thompson has thrown for one TD and is averaging 76.3 yards passing per game. In other words, an under play on Thompson in just about any passing stat might be a wise move in the Dolphins vs Bills player props.

Former San Francisco 49ers Mostert and Jeff Wilson have given the Dolphins a solid 1-2 punch at RB. Wilson has also been slowed this week with illness, but no longer is showing any injury designation.

Mostert (kicks) and Wilson (punts) are Miami’s top return men, so that’s another area of concern for the Dolphins.

Bills Deep At WR

McKenzie is fourth on the Bills with 42 receptions this season, but this is an area of depth for Buffalo. Jamison Crowder is back at practice and could be activated off IR. Former Bills Cole Beasley and John Brown were recently returned to the roster to provide receiver depth.

McKenzie is the top player on Buffalo’s kick return depth chart, but as RB Nyheim Hines displayed by running two kicks back to the house in Week 18 against New England, it’s not really a worrisome development.
