MNF SGP Picks: Saints Touchdowns

The Panthers’ defense has not looked too formidable in this short season so far. They lost 27-0, 21-19 and 26-17 in the preseason. Preseason doesn’t count for much but those first two defeats came versus the Jets and Giants backups. The Jets and Giants starters, granted the Jets lost A-Rod, haven’t looked good in the regular season.

Speaking of the regular season, the Panthers didn’t look any better in Week 1 losing 24-10 in Atlanta, despite Falcons’ QB Desmond Ridder throwing for only 115 yards and one touchdown.

The Saints look to be the play in the Saints vs Panthers picks as they’re 3-point road favorites on MNF. They’re also a popular choice in the New Orleans vs Carolina public betting splits.

The Saints only scored one touchdown last week but as you’ll see in our Derek Carr selections, Carr threw multiple TDs in the majority of his games last season. But instead of just targeting Carr, we’ll start off our MNF SGP picks with simply asking the Saints as a team to score Over 1.5 touchdowns. They should get their share of the posssession and opportunities as rookie QB Bryce Young works himself into the league. Young was only 20/38 with 146 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs last week.

MNF SGP Picks: Derek Carr Passing Yards

Carr’s debut with the Saints wasn’t flashy, but it was successful as he completed 23/33 pass attempts for 305 yards for 1 TD and 1 INT, in a close 16-15 New Orleans win.

In 15 games last season, Carr threw for 200 or more yards 11 times. He had 24 touchdowns on the year, throwing for a score in 12/15 games and multiple TDs in 10/15.

New Orleans could look to lean heavy on the passing game tonight with Panthers CB Jaycee Horn out.

When looking through the Saints vs Panthers props Bet365 allows you to choose different levels in their SGP picks for players to hit. Quarterbacks to throw for 200 or more yards is one of those levels and will be one of our picks in our Saints vs Panthers same game parlay.

MNF SGP Picks: Rashid Shaheed Rushing and Receiving Yards

The third leg of our MNF SGP could actually just be played as a single bet if desired. Rashid Shaheed finished Week 1 with 11 rushing yards on two carries and 89 receiving yards on five catches. That was good for a combined total of 100 yards. He found the endzone once as well.

His rushing and receiving yards total for Week 2 is set for 42.5 yards on Monday Night Football with odds of -115 for the Over.

Last week Carolina allowed Falcons’ running backs Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson to combine for 94 and 83 yards respectively in this market.

Shaheed would’ve exceeded this prop total of 42.5 yards in 6/11 games last season. He also finished with 41, 41 and 38 yards on three other occasions. In fact, as the season wore on he exceeded this total in four of his final six games.

With Alvin Kamara suspended, Jamaal Williams is the clear lead back in New Orleans but someone else will need to pick up a few carries and with 5.5 yards per carry in Week 1 it could be Shaheed. And while Chris Olave and Michael Thomas will occupy much of Carr’s attention in the passing game, the Panthers are down Horn on IR in the Saints vs Panthers injury report. This could see Shaheed finding himself open for a few catches that allow him to easily rack up some yards to help in cashing this Saints vs Panthers same game parlay.
