Real Madrid and Chelsea meet in the knockout rounds of the Champions League for the third consecutive season with the Spanish giants odds-on favorites in the Real Madrid vs Chelsea odds. Chelsea were victorious in the 2020-21 semifinals on their way to lifting the trophy, while Real won a thrilling quarter-final bout in 2021-22 as part of their dramatic run to yet another Champions League title.

Despite two well-matched ties in the last two seasons, Real are massive Champions League odds favorites for their meeting at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday. Chelsea sacked Graham Potter last week, replacing him with former manager Frank Lampard in a caretaker role. The Blues have six wins from 18 matches in 2023.

Real have won just three of their last six at home, including a 3-2 defeat to Villarreal at the Bernabeu last time out.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Odds

Matchup Moneyline
Real Madrid -135
Chelsea +390
Draw +270

A -135 price for Real Madrid means a 57.4% implied probability of carrying an advantage to Stamford Bridge. Way out at +390, Chelsea are tabbed with an implied probability of just over 20% to win at the Bernabeu despite their 3-2 victory in Madrid just last season.

Real are as short as -200 to qualify for the semifinals. They are, however, out at +600 to win the competition due to the strength of their side of the draw. Only Milan have longer odds to win the final than Chelsea.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Over/Under and Spread

Real are one-goal favorites for the first leg. The hosts at -1 is +210 at FanDuel. Those fancying Chelsea to exceed their recent levels might be interested in the visitors +1 at +105.

The total is set at 2.5 with books marginally favoring the under at a price of -120. The over is still a reasonable enough option at -102. Both teams to score is priced at -116 in the Real Madrid vs Chelsea odds.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Preview

Both teams lost at the weekend, though Real are just a few days removed from a spectacular 4-0 victory away to Barcelona. Chelsea are winless in four matches, and Lampard was quick to criticize his players at the weekend. Having been fired by Everton earlier this season, Chelsea’s call to bring their all-time leading goal scorer back was surprising.

Lampard goes up against his former manager in Carlo Ancelotti. There are rightly significant doubts about Lampard’s ability after failing at Everton and falling short of expectations at Chelsea. Ancelotti is one of the greatest managers of his generation, a master motivator and a Champions League specialist. The Italian has won the competition four times as a manager and twice as a player.

Real are well behind Barcelona in La Liga, leaving the Champions League as their primary focus for the rest of the season. Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao and Luka Modric were all rested at the weekend.

Chelsea have nothing to play for domestically either, but they have been awful this season by their standards. Sitting 11th in the Premier League, their win over Dortmund in the last round was the highlight of 2022-23. The west London club have won one away match in all competitions since October. They have scored seven goals in their last 13 matches.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea might up their performance for this match, as motivation appeared to be an issue in an almost meaningless Premier League fixture at the weekend. The visitors still deserve to be massive underdogs, however.

Real are a lethal team in the final third, even if Reece James can keep Vinicius quiet. Chelsea can pack the midfield, but their defense still concedes too many chances and they are incredibly wasteful in attack.

Backing Real to win is a no-brainer. Prior to their last match, Barcelona were the only away team to score over 1.5 goals at the Bernabeu this season. Chelsea’s attack is very unlikely to score twice.

Look for Chelsea to be fired-up after Lampard’s comments — this could be a combative performance from the away side, who are second in cards received in the Champions League this term. We’ve put together a Real Madrid vs Chelsea same-game parlay for our Real Madrid vs Chelsea prediction.
