  • American Coco Gauff is a solid -310 favorite over Italy’s Martina Trevisan in their French Open women’s singles semifinal on Thursday, June 2
  • Their only previous match was also at Roland Garros in 2020 and Trevisan was the winner
  • All of the Trevisan vs Gauff odds, picks, predictions and best bets are analyzed in the following story

Cori “Coco” Gauff is the next teen sensation to stand in the path of Martina Trevisan en route to the French Open women’s singles final.

The Italian dealt with Canadian star Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals. Now she contends with American Gauff in the semifinals.

It’s Gauff that oddsmakers are setting as a solid -310 favorite to defeat Trevisan. That should be of no mind to the veteran Trevisan, though. She was a +175 underdog when facing Fernandez.

The match is set to get underway at 9:00 am ET on Thursday, June 2. Viewing is available on NBC, the Tennis Channel, or via streaming on fuboTV or Peacock. In Canada, the action can be caught on TSN, TSN.ca, or via the TSN app.

In the French Open betting trends, Gauff, the #18 seed, was set as the +2000 fifth betting choice to win in the tournament’s opening betting lines. The current French Open odds show that bettors will get +350 odds if they opt for a futures play on Gauff. Trevisan is trending at +1800 to be the winner at Roland Garros.

Trevisan Is Triumphant

Trevisan required two hours and 21 minutes to overcome Fernandez 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-3. She could’ve taken the match in straight sets but failed to convert while serving for match point up 5-4 in the second set.

Still, she regained her composure and was also able to regain control of the match in the third set. Trevisan raced to a 4-0 lead in the final set. She committed just 29 unforced errors in the match, compared to 44 made by Fernandez. Trevisan also hit 43 winners, while Fernandez nailed just 29 winners.

Trevisan previously reached the French Open quarterfinals in 2020 as a qualifier. The world #59 – her highest ranking ever on the WTA Tour – Trevisan won her first career title this season in Morocco and is on a 10-match winning streak, eight of those victories coming in straight sets.

She is just the third Italian woman to reach the French Open semifinals. One of the previous two, Francesca Schiavone, won the 2010 title. The other, Sara Errani, reached the 2012 final.

Gauff a Win Away From First Grand Slam Final

Beaten in last year’s French Open quarterfinals, this time around, Gauff was not to be denied. She posted a 7-5, 6-2, straight-set victory over American compatriot Sloane Stephens to move into a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time in her career.

The 2018 French Open junior champion, Gauff, 18, began her latest trip to Paris by posing for photos in front of the Eiffel Tower with her recently-earned high school diploma. On court at Roland Garros, she’s been all business.

Gauff has yet to drop a set in the tournament. She needed only 90 minutes to overcome Stephens, avenging her loss to Stephens at the 2021 US Open in their only previous meeting.

Gauff is the first woman to reach multiple Grand Slam quarterfinals before turning 19 since Nicole Vaidisova in 2007.

Trevisan vs Gauff Prediction

Is history going to repeat itself? Last year, just like Trevisan, French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova won a WTA 250 event right before arriving at Roland Garros. And like Trevisan, it was Krejcikova’s first tour victory.

In the case of Gauff and Trevisan, their only previous meeting came in the Round of 64 at the 2020 French Open. Trevisan won in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. In that match, Trevisan was able to take advantage of Gauff’s erratic service game which led to several double faults.

Historically, Gauff hasn’t succeeded in her first try at a bigger stage. She failed to get past the quarterfinals in last year’s French Open and her game has a reputation for coming apart the first time she takes the next step in a major event.

On paper, Trevisan shouldn’t win this match. But she’s playing the best tennis of her career and at 28, has to know this might be her last chance to make a Grand Slam final.

Pick: Trevisan +175; Trevisan 2-1 (+575)
