When and Where Is Wimbledon 2021?

After the Australian Open and French Open, next comes Wimbledon as the third grand slam of the year for the ATP and WTA tours. The fourth grand slam is the US Open later this summer.

From Monday, June 28 to Sunday, July 11, the top players from around the world will compete in the event.

Most of the top players in the game will have qualified for Wimbledon long in advance. However, others, are playing in qualifying matches leading up to the tournament. From there, 128 players on both the men’s and women’s events, will work down to 64, 32, 16, 8, 4 and finally the last two.

The women’s final will be on Saturday, July 10, with the men’s final concluding the event on July 11.

Who are the Favorites to Win Wimbledon?

On the men’s side it’s Novak Djokovic as the odds-on favorite. While the event was not played in 2020, Djokovic is the current defending champion, having won in 2019 and 2018. Djokovic has won the event a total of five times. He’s 27-3 on the year and has won three titles on the men’s tour, including both previous majors, the Australian and French Opens.

After Djokovic, the odds favor Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Medvedev is 22-7 in 2021 with one win on tour. Tsitsipas is 39-9 with two titles this year so far.

Over on the women’s side Ashleigh Barty and Serena Williams are basically co-favored. Barty has three singles titles on the year with a 28-6 record. For Williams, she’s won this event seven times, but not since 2016. In 2021, Williams has seen limited action, so far going just 12-4.

Next on the odds board is Aryna Sabalenka, ranked fourth in the world, with a 27-9 record and two titles in 2021. Her career is undoubtfully on the rise, though she’s never made it past the round of 64 at Wimbledon. In fact, her best showing at any grand slam in her career is still only the round of 16.
