With Omaha Beach a scratch for the race, Game Winner and Improbable, two of trainer’s Bob Baffert’s horses, are now listed as co-favorites here at odds of +600.

Bookies are strongly favoring a Baffert horse to win, with his third horse Roadster, listed with the third-best odds of +700.

Baffert is one of just two trainers to have won the Triple Crown twice, and will have a chance to tie a record of six Derby wins Saturday.

If you’re still doing your homework on this field of horses and looking for another trend to consider, you may want to review the Final Fractions Theory.

The theory tracks the finishes of horses finishing 13 seconds or less in the last furlong for a final, nine-furlong prep, and those that finish in 38 seconds or less in the last three furlongs for a final, nine-furlong prep.

Horses meeting at least one of those criteria have won 26 of the past 29 runnings of the Kentucky Derby. And horses hitting both criteria? An equally impressive 22.

This is just one more tool to consider and shouldn’t be blindly followed this year though, as 13 starters and one alternate all hit both criteria this year when the initial field was made.

Roadster may be considered one of the top favorites going into the race, but some savvy bettors may be sitting on a potential for a big payout with the recent Santa Anita winner. Roadster was offered with average odds of +2000 on April 1st and +2500 in November.

Backers of Roadster would be wise to consider the record of jockey Florent Geroux. Geroux is 0-3 in the Derby, with his best finish being third in 2016 when he road Gun Runner.
