Chiefs Betting Preview

The Chiefs have braved the elements twice now in the NFL Playoffs, playing in record cold at home to Miami and winning 26-7 in the Wild Card Playoffs. From there they traveled to another cold weather game in Buffalo last week.

In their Divisional Round matchup with Buffalo, the Chiefs once again ended Buffalo’s season, but by the narrowest of margins. At no point did any team lead by more than seven points and Buffalo led 24-20 entering the fourth quarter.

Isiah Pacheco, who had 97 yards on the ground, scored what turned out to be the winning touchdown in the fourth to give KC the 27-24 win. Kept quiet for several weeks, Chiefs’ TE Travis Kelce finished with 5 catches for 75 yards and 2 TDs in the KC win. Those were his first TDs since November 20.

Kansas City did hold Bills’ QB Josh Allen to 186 yards and 1 TD passing, but Allen added 72 yards on the ground and two rushing scores. That’s bad news for this weekend as they’ll face one of the league’s top rushing quarterbacks in Jackson.

Ravens Betting Preview

Speaking of Jackson, the favorite in the Super Bowl MVP odds, while he may have been held to just 152 yards passing last week in the Divisional Round, he was responsible for all four Ravens’ touchdowns. Jackson passed for two scores and ran in two more himself with 100 yards rushing.

The scoreline will read 34-10 Baltimore, but the game was tied 10-10 at halftime and the Ravens led just 17-10 entering the fourth quarter. That said, statiscally, the Ravens held a huge advantage in yards (352-213), rushing yards (229-38), first downs (22-10) and time of possession (37:35-22:35).

Take out a Week 18 game where Lamar and others sat, and Baltimore has scored 31 or more points in three of their other four recent games and also in nine of their other 11. They’re currently second-favorites in the Super Bowl odds and as short as +170.

They also could be welcoming back star TE Mark Andrews who has been recovering from an ankle injury. Andrews is still questionable to play on the Chiefs vs Ravens injury reports, but he has been a full participant in practice this week. Baltimore’s main concern will be the status of CB Marlon Humphrey who has been limited in practice with a calf injury.

Chiefs vs Ravens Prediction

The Chiefs have gone 5-3-1 ATS on the road this season and 2-0 as an underdog and away underdog. Season-long they’re 11-7-1 ATS and have been one of the best Under bets this season at 13-6.

Kansas City is a perfect 4-0 SU and ATS in their past four games while the Under has gone 4-1 in their past five.

Then there are some incredible Mahomes stats that see him being 13-3 SU in the playoffs in his career. And if you look at his last three playoff games, he’s been sacked zero times, thrown zero interceptions and thrown for six touchdowns.

The Chiefs do have several injuries to worry about this week though. Each of RB Pacheco, LG Joe Thuney and RG Trey Smith are questionable on offense. While defensively, DT Derrick Nnadi, LB Willie Gay, CB L’Jarius Sneed and FS Mike Edwards are all dealing with injuries. With Gay specifically, who would be the quarterback spy, if he’s limited or out, the Chiefs could have a hard time containing the rushing prowess of Jackson, making him a good bet in the Chiefs vs Ravens props.

The Ravens own the second-best ATS mark overall this season at 12-6 and are 8-9-1 in totals betting. They have just one loss in their past eight games and that came in a Week 18 loss to Pittsburgh where they rested key players. Baltimore has gone 6-2 ATS in that stretch while being nearly even in totals betting at 4-3-1.

Baltimore is 6-4 ATS at home, 10-5 as a favorite and 6-3 as a home favorite.

The Chiefs have taken advantage of some beat up teams in the Dolphins and Bills so far in the NFL Playoffs. This week, they’ll be the team with more injury concerns. We’ve seen the Chiefs’ offense struggle all season, while Baltimore has stepped up at every challenge and have 11 wins over teams with a winning record, and nine of those wins have come by double-digits.
