The Tennessee Titans are on the clock with the first overall pick, and the betting market is in a frenzy trying to predict who they’ll take. Colorado two-way stud Travis Hunter is gaining massive traction in the NFL first picks odds following a big recent development.

Just a week ago, Miami quarterback Cam Ward looked like a lock at -200 odds. But a lot can change in a few days, especially when an executive starts dropping hints about “generational talents.”

Let’s break down the latest odds of being the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, plus analyze why Hunter’s price has been shortened so drastically.

NFL Draft Number 1 Pick Odds

Player Odds

Travis Hunter (Colorado) +175

The betting landscape for the 2025 NFL Draft’s first overall pick has seen a dramatic shift in recent days. Just a week ago, Miami QB Cam Ward was the heavy favorite at -200. Now, the race has tightened considerably, with Ward’s odds lengthening to +110.

Colorado’s two-way phenom Travis Hunter has surged up the board, moving from +1400 to +175. His teammate, QB Shedeur Sanders, remains in the mix at +450. Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter rounds out the top tier of prospects at +500.

Titans’ Comment About Not Passing on a “Generational Player”

The odds movement was triggered by a cryptic comment from Titans president Chad Brinker about not passing on a “generational talent” with the first pick. This sent the betting markets into a frenzy, with a flood of money coming in on Hunter.

Tennessee holds the top selection and is in desperate need of a franchise-altering talent. Brinker’s words suggest they could prioritize a unique prospect like Hunter over a “safer” pick at quarterback.

The Titans are coming off a 3-14 season and lack star power on both sides of the ball. Adding a player with Hunter’s potential, who dominated as both a receiver and cornerback in college, could provide an instant jolt of excitement.

Travis Hunter’s Odds Surging

According to BetMGM, Hunter is now their biggest liability, leading in both ticket volume (44%) and handle (42.3%). His odds made a staggering jump from +1500 to +150 in the span of 24 hours.

The Heisman Trophy winner put up video game numbers at Colorado, registering 96 catches, 1,258 yards, and 16 touchdowns as a receiver. He was equally dominant on defense with 4 interceptions and 11 pass breakups.

Hunter’s versatility is unmatched in this draft class. The last prospect to showcase this type of two-way ability was Michigan’s Charles Woodson, who went on to have a Hall of Fame NFL career.

NFL Draft First Overall Pick Prediction

Despite the surge of betting action on Hunter, I’m still leaning towards a quarterback being selected with the first pick. The Titans’ glaring need under center can’t be ignored, even for a talent like Hunter.

Cam Ward remains the odds-on favorite for good reason. He’s coming off a sensational season at Miami, throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns. Ward has prototypical size and elite arm talent that will have NFL scouts drooling.

However, Shedeur Sanders presents an intriguing alternative. The son of Deion Sanders, Shedeur put up polished numbers at Colorado, completing 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns. He’s earned praise for his accuracy, poise, and ability to process complex defensive looks.

If the Titans want to make a true splash, though, Hunter could be the pick. He would instantly become the face of the franchise and provide matchup nightmares for opposing coaches.

Ultimately, I still believe Tennessee will prioritize finding its quarterback of the future. In a draft without a surefire stud at the position, look for them to play it “safe” with Ward over the unicorn that is Travis Hunter. But this betting market is fluid, and we could be in for a genuine surprise come draft night.
