With the draw for Qatar 2022 being held on Friday, CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying officially wraps up on Wednesday. Canada, who have already secured their spot on the grand stage later this year, will visit Panama on the final matchday. The kick-off is scheduled for 9:05 PM EST in Panama City.

Canadians can look forward to betting on Team Canada at this year’s World Cup, now that legal Canada sports betting is set to launch next week on April 4.

Disappointing Campaign For Panama

The Panamanians were never expected to be a serious contender in the octagon, but they didn’t end up that far out of potentially qualifying. Heading into Wednesday’s match, Thomas Christiansen’s side is four points behind Costa Rica, who will be very likely heading to a playoff against an Oceania country for the opportunity to progress to Qatar.

Panama has just one win to show for in their last six outings though, losing two of the previous three to Mexico and most recently, the States. The side was frankly outplayed by the Americans, heading into halftime already down four goals. The Panamanians actually controlled 60% of the ball, but every opportunity went the way of the US, with Christian Pulisic bagging a hat-trick.

On a more positive note, Panama is 3-3-0 in qualifying on home soil, which is definitely a good sign ahead of a tough clash with Canada, who destroyed them in October.

Canada Looking to Finish Strong

The Canadians have already reached their ultimate goal, but there is absolutely no doubt John Herdman’s men will be hungry to finish with another three points and put themselves in the best possible position for Friday’s draw in Doha. While one may think Herdman could use a lot of substitutes against Panama, he’s made it clear that Canada is treating this like any other game, especially because the result has major implications as to what pot they end up in for the World Cup draw, as they look to finish above both the USA and Mexico in CONCACAF.
