The Calgary Flames are desperate for a victory in game 4 of their series as they hope to avoid going down 3-1 in the best-of-seven against the Dallas Stars. The Flames have scored just three goals in the series so far and will definitely need some kind of boost on offense to square things up.
Faceoff will be at 9:30 pm ET at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Monday, May 9th in game 4 between the Flames and Stars. The over/under goal total is set at 5.5 goals in the Flames vs Stars Monday NHL odds with Calgary -157 road favorites on the moneyline.
Let’s take a look at the Game 4 Flames vs Stars odds and offer you our NHL best bet.
Flames vs Stars Odds
Team | Puck Line | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
Calgary Flames | -1.5 (+170) | O 5.5 (+116) | -157 |
Dallas Stars | +1.5 (-210) | U 5.5 (-141) | +133 |
Odds as of May 8th at Barstool Sportsbook.
The Flames are -157 moneyline favorites, giving them an implied win probability of 61.09%. The Stars at +133 have a win probability of 42.92% to win game 4 and really take a stranglehold on the series.
Flames Offense Goes Dry vs Stars
Dallas is the lowest scoring team in the playoffs, so you’d expect them to want to play low scoring games, but the lack of offense from the Flames so far is startling. Three goals in three games for a Calgary team that ranked sixth in goals for during the regular season.

Their status as one of the favorites in the Western Conference odds will take a huge hit if they can’t find the back of the net more often in game 4.
Doubters will point to past playoff failures for Hart Trophy odds contender Johnny Gaudreau as a reason why the Flames won’t get back into the series. Johnny Hockey averages just 0.64 points per game in the playoffs for his career as opposed to 1.01 points per game during the regular season.

Although the slick winger has assisted on two of the three goals his team has scored, the Flames will need even more from him and linemates Matthew Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm to even things up against the stingy Stars.
Stars Home Underdogs in Monday NHL Odds
The Stars are mapping out the blueprint for success for underdogs in the NHL playoffs. With a lack of scoring compared to their first round opponents, the Stars knew victory would lie in great defensive play and outstanding goaltending. That plan has gone exactly how they’ve wanted so far.
As one of the longest shots in the 2022 Stanley Cup odds, not much was expected from this Stars team. Unheralded goalie Jake Oettinger has been spectacular, stopping 93 of 96 shots in the series so far for a .969 save percentage.

They were also much better on their own ice during the regular season than they were on the road, with a 27-10-4 home record as opposed to a mediocre 19-20-2 on the road. Never will that home ice advantage mean more than it will tomorrow in a pivotal game four.

Flames vs Stars Game 4 Pick
Only one time have the Flames lost three games in a row since the start of February and if it happens again on Monday, it might be a hole they won’t be able to dig themselves out of. Oettinger has outplayed Vezina Trophy odds candidate Jakob Markstrom so far and although the Flames Swedish netminder has played well, that has been a major factor in the series.
The Flames have to find their offense. For the first time in almost 30 years, they had four 30-goal scorers this season, but they’ve been getting stymied so far in this series. This team is built for the playoffs and you can count on head coach Darryl Sutter to have his team ready to go in this crucial contest.
Calgary Flames Need To Find Their Offense: from Eric Francis of Sportsnet, Blake Coleman has a prediction: his Flames are going to bounce back and Johnny Gaudreau will play a major role in it. He may want to do it soon, as the Flames have dropped two in… https://t.co/VW5dE3LULW

It’s a desperation game for a Calgary team that’s too good to go down 3-1 in this best-of-seven series so take the Flames on the moneyline in the Monday NHL odds at Barstool Sportsbook.
