  • It was a year full of off-the-wall betting opportunities in 2019
  • From celebrity marriage to Trump and more Trump to the flat out bizarre
  • See the top 25 craziest bets you could’ve made in 2019

2019 offered plenty of betting opportunities for bettors, ranging from your typical moneyline, ATS and totals bets, to the more exotic futures and props.

While some props offered relatively tame predictions on player performances, look hard enough and you could’ve bet on anything ranging from marriage to death, from hugs to exposed breasts, babies to birthday suits, to PETA, facial hair, coffee cups, aliens and dildos.

Let’s dive into the 25 weirdest ways you could’ve turned a profit betting in 2019.

25) When Will Jameis Winston Throw His First INT in Week 16?

Tampa Bay’s Jameis Winston was chasing down a not so illustrious 30-30 stat. That being, the first NFL quarterback to throw for both 30 touchdowns and also 30 interceptions. In Week 15 you could’ve bet on when the Bucs’ QB would almost inevitably throw his next pick by quarter.

In Week 16, bookmakers took it a step further and allowed you to bet on the Over/Under of the time of his next interception. I think the Tweet above easily tells you bettors didn’t need to wait too long to cash either.

24) How Tall Will Kyler Murray Be at the Combine?

Kyler Murray may have blazing speed and be in contention for NFL OROY, but heading into the 2019 combine, bettors were more interested in how tall the future first overall pick would be. Listed at 5’10”, odds heavily favored Murray to be measured to the “Under” at the combine.

23) Who the First Overall Pick Hugs First

While we’re talking Kyler Murray, odds were also released on who the NFL’s first overall draft pick would hug first back in April. Spoiler alert “His mom” was favored, but there was an upset.

22) Philip Rivers Retirement vs Baby #10

The recently-turned 38-year-old Chargers’ QB has said he still wants to play football in what would be a 16th year with the organization in 2020. In 2019 he also welcomed his ninth child into his family. In November, books released a prop favoring a Baby Rivers #10 announcement happening prior to a retirement announcement for the longtime Charger.

21) Will a Trump Super Bowl Tweet Have a Typo?

In what was a year full of strange Trump tweets and numerous bets (some more may make an appearance in this list), one such bet allowed us to predict if Trump would not only tweet during the Super Bowl but if one of his tweets would include a typo.

20) Kanye’s Sunday Service Location

Kanye West took his 2019 Jesus is King tour outside of the arenas and into church this year. Dubbed the “Sunday Service”, fans and bettors were given the chance to predict which church Kanye’s tour would show up to next.

19) Will Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun Make Up?

Taylor Swift has had many feuds throughout her career, but this one falls between her and her manager vs her and another celebrity. Braun’s acquisition of Big Machine Records has Swift up in arms and now we can follow along with our money throughout 2020.

18) Baby Yoda to Use Force Powers Again in Season 1 of The Mandalorian

I personally had not even watched this show, but when I saw plus-money odds were released on the fan-favorite character using his force powers for the second time in Season One of The Mandalorian with still several episodes to go, it was a bet too good not to pass up.

17) Will President Trump Pardon a Turkey?

I’ll admit, this arguably could rank higher, however, given the tradition of pardoning a turkey on Thanksgiving has taken place since 1947, the betting odds heavily favored Trump continuing said tradition at -140 odds.

16) PETA to Interrupt Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest

Nathan’s hot dog eating competition is an American tradition that has long been opposed by PETA. This year, the question wasn’t only if Joey Chestnut would continue his success at the event, but also if PETA would orchestrate an interruption during the event.

15) Celebrity Death Matchups

For one reason or another, whether it be age, substance abuse or purely for the enjoyment of comparing two similar figures, odds are regularly available for “Who Will Die Next?”. Whether you’re betting Charlie Sheen vs Magic Johnson, Rosie O’Donnell vs Rosanne Barr, Donald Trump vs Vladimir Putin or Bill Cosby to die in prison, these and so many more are available to bet.

14) Julia Rose or Lauren Summer Exposing Their Boobs at Another Sporting Event

Fans (men or women) taking their shirts off or flashing at pro sports events is nothing new. But this year we could bet on it happening again after internet models Julia Rose and Lauren Summer were banned indefinitely by MLB after exposing their breasts at Nationals Stadium during Game 5 of the World Series.

13) Who Will Tackle Streakers at Super Bowl 53

While we’re talking flashing, it only seems natural to transition into streaking. Again, fans charging onto a field in their birthday suits is nothing new. Betting on if they’ll be tackled by either security, a player, coach or ref, is.

12) Trump Tweeting George Carlin’s 7 Dirty Words

In another of several Donald Trump tweet bets offered in 2019, odds on him tweeting and using any of George Carlin’s 7 Dirty Words heavily favored the “No” after the American President resorted to profanity in a previous tweet towards Democrats.

11) John Daly Receiving a Cart

John Daly’s spider bite became news when he requested and was granted use of a cart at the PGA Championship in May. When that same request was denied at the Open Championship, books tipped the odds in Daly’s favor of receiving a cart at his next event at -200.

10) Will Colton Lose His Virginity During The Bachelor?

This year the question wasn’t only who The Bachelor would give his roses to, but also who and if The Bachelor (Colton) would lose his virginity to, giving that extra bit of drama to tune in for each week.

Surrounded by a houseful of beautiful women, unsurprisingly odds heavily favored the “Yes”, however, at the conclusion of the show bettors and fans still had questions.

9) Will OJ Simpson Win His Fantasy Pool?

A man who always seems to find his way into the news, OJ’s fantasy team was all the rage on social media this year after he asked for help in his draft and then drafted Andrew Luck who soon after retired from the league. Luck’s retirement, as well as a few real-life holdouts, heavily impacted Simpson’s roster, giving him -1000 odds to not win his league.

8) LeBron to Bring Wine to a Game in 2019

During a lengthy injury spell in early 2019, LeBron was seen more than once with what was speculated to be wine in his pre-game entrance as a spectator. This prompted oddsmakers to set a line on whether the noted wine connoisseur would be seen bringing his favorite red to the arena again.

7) So, So Many Celebrity Dating & Marriage Props

I’m not sure if any one of these stands out tremendously more so than the others so we’ll group a bunch of them together inside the top 10. These days almost anyone can be a “celebrity” and almost no one is immune to bookmakers setting odds on their lives.

Whether it’s odds on Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos dating an employee, Holly Sonders and Vegas Dave getting married after knowing each other for less than a month,  the length of Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau’s marriage or one of the many Kylie Jenner bets offered on her dating life, 2019 was jam-packed of ways to cash in on the lives of your favorite celebs.

6) Baker Mayfield’s Facial Hair

By this point betting on facial hair doesn’t even seem so weird. Browns’ QB Baker Mayfield exploded onto the scene in 2018 and had high expectations going into the 2019 season. Those expectations proved to be a little inflated and the most exciting Mayfield props of the year focused on his facial hair versus his play on the field.

5) How Many People Will RSVP ‘Going’ to Facebook Event Storm Area 51?

Aliens, social media and the potential for hoards of people to gate-crash a heavily secured government site — this had to crack the top 10. While the “Over/Under” was set at nearly 1.5 million, the “storming” turned out to be a more peaceful ‘Alienstock’ sort of party.

4) Another Coffee Cup in Game of Thrones

In the biggest television event of all-time, one of the biggest coffee companies came out with some serious free pub. Little did Starbucks know that during the series’ final season producers would forget to remove a Starbucks coffee cup from Winterfell. Starbucks wasn’t complaining and neither were bettors who could’ve taken long odds 15-1 of it happening again.

3) The Puppy Bowl

The 2019 Super Bowl may have featured the New England Patriots and the LA Rams, but the more intriguing battle was taking place far away from Mercedes-Benz Stadium between Team Ruff and Team Fluff in the Puppy Bowl. On top of betting the game ATS, bettors were free to handicap the age (in weeks) of the MVP, the gender and breed of the MVP-winning pup and even if any of the participants would attempt to mate during the event.

2) A SpongeBob SquarePants Super Bowl Protest

As if worrying about another wardrobe malfunction wasn’t enough to keep Commissioner Roger Goodell up all night prior to the Super Bowl, this year bookmakers were offering odds if the iconic SpongeBob SquarePants would protest and take a knee during the halftime show.

1) Will Bills Mafia Throw a Dildo on the Field?

A dildo. Yes you read that right. In what’s become a bit of a tradition at New Era Field, Bills’ fans have taken to hurling dildos, (sometimes with Brady’s name on them), onto the field when the Bills play host to the Patriots. And this year we could bet on it!

Hopefully, you were able to profit or at least laugh from some of these betting opportunities in 2019. Here’s to another year of wacky betting as we ring in the new year and decade in 2020.
