- Patrick Peterson has been suspended for the first six games of the season
- The Cardinals traded Josh Rosen and will have first overall pick Kyler Murray start from the beginning of the season
- Kliff Kingsbury comes in as the new head coach after replacing Steve Wilks
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson will be suspended for the first six games of the NFL season for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. What does this mean for their season win total? Not much apparently.

NFL win totals tend to move often, and with news like this you might expect a shift. However, none of the books have budged yet. Despite Peterson’s suspension and the 12th toughest strength of schedule in the league, you can still bet the under at 5.5 games. All the best if that’s the route you choose to go, but my money will side with the over for two reasons.

The Kyler Murray Era Begins Now
Whether you believe Kyler Murray deserved to be the first overall pick in the NFL Draft or not, he’s an upgrade over Josh Rosen. Despite drafting Rosen last year, Arizona shipped him to the Miami Dolphins clearing the path for Murray to start on day 1.
Murray will inject this offense with the flash and dash necessary to not only entertain, but also win football games.
Murray won the Heisman Trophy last year completing 69% of his passes for 4,361 yards and 42 TD. In addition to those eye popping numbers through the air he piled up over 1,000 yards rushing and 12 more TD on the ground. Assuming he stays healthy, Murray will inject this offense with the flash and dash necessary to not only entertain, but also win football games.

Missing Peterson on the defensive side of the ball will certainly hurt, but adding Murray to the offense is much more important and will lead to wins in the desert.
Kliff Kingsbury Another X Factor
Murray to Rosen is a big upgrade but it could pale in comparison to the move the Cardinals made on the sidelines. Steve Wilks was fired after one season where he did nothing but show he was in way over his head. Arizona shifts focus to their new head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who arrives via Texas Tech and USC and comes with a reputation as an offensive guru.
Moving the QB launchpoint (where he throws the football from on the field) will be a critical component of Kliff Kingsbury’s new offense: good thing, because it matches Kyler Murray’s skill set perfectly pic.twitter.com/16Dx5IxaRY

I think this change more than any other will result in wins for Arizona. I fully expect Kingsbury to have success from the get-go and considering the fact a 6-10 season hits the over here, it gives him more than enough cushion.
You could wait to see if the Peterson news moves the line but I don’t expect it to. My advice would be to bet the over now before rumblings of Murray’s great camp push it even higher.
Pick: Over 5.5 (+110)
