Despite Alabama Crimson Tide will have to find a new quarterback to lead the way now that QB AJ McCarron is in the NFL, they still are loaded on key positions to keep fighting for the top spot in College Football; of course, keeping head coach Nick Saban helps plenty.

Alabama is listed +600 to win the BCS Championship game, fourth in six years, and only Florida State have better odds than the Crimson Tide. Transferred from the Seminoles Jacob Coker is expected to be the starting quarterback in the upcoming season, but coach Saban hasn’t named him, yet.

“He definitely has sparks that he brings to the table that’s shown that he can be one of the greatest quarterbacks to play here,” Alabama receiver Christion Jones said of Coker at SEC Media Days. “But I can also say all our quarterbacks show those sparks at moments that they can be that quarterback. It’s just going to be all about being consistent and coming out every day and competing and being consistent with your performance.”

Bama is +110 to win the SEC Conference and as always should be challenged by South Carolina, Auburn, and LSU, which will have their hands full with the new Crimson Tide.

Most recently Nick Saban was involved in a controversy as Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said “cheating pays” in college football these days.

“But I don’t see players getting bought. I don’t see players getting extra benefits any place,” Saban said. “I think recruiting is so transparent now, I think most people are scared to death that they would get caught publicly — not by the NCAA, not by the conference office.

“But even if you have illegal contact with a player, he tweets that you talked to him. So that’s a violation. I mean, it’s so transparent, you almost have to do things correctly because I don’t think anybody needs to catch you. I think the public would catch you.”

Now, taking about the offense and not knowing who will be the quarterback in team, you can always count on Tailback T.J. Yeldon, who has been tremendous over the past two years. Junior wide receiver Amari Cooper will also help a lot on the passing game.

On defense, sophomore end A’Shawn Robinson, Senior Brandon Ivory and college transfers Jarran Reed and D.J. Pettway will put together a good enough unit to compete in the new College Football playoffs.
