Spring is just around the corner, which can only mean one thing: it’s time to lighten up your wardrobe. Trade your oppressive winter layers for delicate fabrics and prepare to inch those hemlines up.

Now that spring/summer ’16 fashion weeks have wrapped up, we can look forward to something new, something blue, and something borrowed from fashions past.

The good news is that many of last season’s trends are still on the button, transitioning seamlessly into spring/summer ’16 (“SS16”).

Not sure where to start your sartorial spring cleaning? We bring you the latest fashion trends straight off of the runway and set the odds on which one will rule the roost in 2016.

Odds to be the hottest 2016 spring/summer fashion trend:

Orange and Blue: 4/1

Although Spring runways presented a kaleidoscope of colors, designers were particularly keen on two hues: orange and blue. Summer may be months away, but warm and sunny dresses have already brightened up collections by Altuzarra, Loewe, and Stella McCartney. On the beauty front, makeup artists favored blue palettes. From Missoni’s cyan eyelids to Mary Katrantzou’s azure falsies, aqua peepers had models looking fabulously frozen on the catwalk.

Off the Shoulder Tops: 6/1

Models were giving photographers the cold shoulder yet again on runways in early 2016. Bare shoulders were spotted at Prabal Gurung and Edun. Off the shoulder tops were hot last season, and this year will be no different. Expect flowy dresses featuring sexy necklines, in addition to halter tops with cutout sleeves. The key to pulling off this sexy trend is a good strapless bra.

Shimmering Silver: 9/1

You don’t have to work for NASA to embrace your inner space cadet in 2016. Futuristic fashions invaded the runways of Lacoste, Saint Laurent, and Chanel, and the result were (inter)stellar. Think slick silver shirts and metallic lame dresses, paired with light-reflecting heels. We think these looks are out of this world.

Graphic Stripes: 10/1

Stripes are ubiquitous in summer, so it’s no surprise that bold and colorful bands are in high demand this season. Chloe, Prada, and Dolce & Gabbana all served up graphic stripes in a number of shapes and sizes. Styles range from sailor chic to mix-and-match midi skirts. To incorporate this standout trend, balance out striped patterns with an understated piece like a crisp white shirt.

See-Through Fabrics: 12/1

Sheer fabrics add a subtle sexiness that is universally appealing. Dior, Miu Miu, and Nina Ricci showcased an array of ethereal styles, transforming see-through fabrics like chiffon and organza into ultra chic ensembles. Look for billowy skirts and delicate blouses. Pair them with an opaque separate to tie it all together.

Boho Chic: 14/1

Love and peace is what Boho chic is all about. Throw on some lightweight, loose-fitting garments that are made up of  lots of crochet, lace, sexy cuts, and even transparent mesh. This style is perfect for the summer music festivals or just hanging out with friends. Bold is the name of the game with maxi gowns made out of lightweight and qualitative fabrics and slouchy styles with crochet or lace inserts. Nothing is complete without lots of chunky jewellery, stones, and vintage head pieces.
