The Octagon heads to Copenhagen, Denmark, on Saturday, Sept. 28, for UFC Fight Night 160. In the main event, Jack Hermansson takes on Jared Cannonier in a pivotal middleweight bout. The winner could very well be next in line for the title shot. The co-main event, meanwhile, features Danish Olympic bronze medallist Mark Madsen vs. Danilo Belluardo.

Jack Hermansson -240 -230
Jared Cannonier +190 +195

All odds taken 09/25/19.

Both Fighters Riding Winning Streaks

Jack Hermansson (20-4) is riding a four-fight winning streak including a very impressive decision win over Jacare Souza at UFC Fort Lauderdale,a fight he took on short notice. During his winning streak, he also submitted David Branch in 49 seconds, and beat Gerald Meerschaert (R1 submission) and Thales Leites (R3 TKO).

The 31-year-old, who hails from Sweden and lives in Norway, also holds notable wins over Scott Askham, Brad Scott, and Alex Nicholson.

Jared Cannonier (12-4) is on a two-fight winning streak which coincides with his move down to middleweight. The 35-year-old previously fought at heavyweight and light heavyweight.

In his last fight, he TKOed Anderson Silva (May 2019); before that, he TKOed David Branch (Nov. 2018). He also has notable wins over Cyril Asker and Ion Cutelaba back in 2016.

This is a very important fight for the middleweight division. If Hermansson wins, he could be next in line for the middleweight title, although Paulo Costa has a solid claim to that, as well.

The Best Bet

While the odds favor Hermansson by a wide margin, Cannonier has the proverbial “puncher’s chance” here thanks to his one-punch knockout power. Where Cannonier has struggled is getting taken down, but he is adept at getting back to his feet, which he showed against Branch.

Yet, with the European fighting close to home and owning a significant advantage in both wrestling and jiu-jitsu, he is a deserving favorite.

Pick: Jack Hermansson (-230)

Mark Madsen vs. Danilo Belluardo Odds

Danilo Belluardo +400 +425

Can Madsen Win His UFC Debut?

Mark Madsen (8-0) is a former 2016 Olympic bronze medallist in wrestling who is set for his UFC debut in his home country. He has been fighting regionally in Denmark, piling up a perfect record with five stoppage wins. His most notable win was his last fight where he beat former pro boxer Patrick Nielsen.

Danilo Belluardo (12-4) is coming off of a very disappointing UFC debut in which he was dominated by Joel Alvarez. Before making his Octagon debut, he was fighting in Venator FC and in Bellator, where he lost to A.J. McKee.

As the odds suggest, this will be an easy win for Madsen. It’s set-up for him to look good in front of his home crowd. Where Belluardo struggles is on takedown defense, and that is Madsen’s strength. He will take Belluardo down at will and has a decent chance to finish this fight by ground-and-pound or submission.

It will be interesting to see if Madsen’s striking will be up to par with UFC fighters, or if he shoots from the get-go. If that is the case and he can’t get the takedown, he will be in trouble. But, Madsen dominating this fight is the pick.

Pick: Mark Madsen (-600)
