Still jostling for seeding in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets meet for the second time in three days. Elsewhere, Luka Doncic and the Mavericks look to cling on to a top six spot as they face Miami. The Clips face the Raptors, and the tanking duo of Detroit and Oklahoma City matchup with Charlotte and Sacramento respectively.

Odds as of May 4th
Lowry Takes on Clips
Kyle Lowry had a lot of fun toppling the Lakers at the weekend. He gets another chance to upset a Los Angeles team on Tuesday night as the Raptors matchup with the Clippers. Lowry also reunites with former teammate Kawhi Leonard.

Putting up 37 points and 11 dimes, Lowry’s performance against the Lakers was his best of the season. It’s been a disrupted few months for many reasons, but the six-time All-Star has found some rhythm of late.
He’s gone over 18.5 points in each of his last three appearances, and since a four-game absence midway through April, he has averaged eight assists per contest.
Fred VanVleet’s return to action changes things a bit for Lowry. His usage is over 5% higher when VanVleet is off the court compared to when they share the hardwood. VanVleet playing means fewer shots for Lowry, but with how he’s shot the ball lately, he’ll still have a massive role to play in the offense.

Lowry has made 19 of his last 32 threes. The hot streak will come to an end at some point, but it’s worth wagering it continues here. If it does, the 24.5 points and assists line is incredibly low. Regardless of VanVleet’s minutes, Lowry is going to have a key role to play as Toronto searches for another big win.
- Pick: Kyle Lowry over 24.5 points and assists (-113)
Middleton Gets Space
Destroyed by Giannis Antetokounmpo on Sunday, the Nets are going to alter their defense for Tuesday’s game with the Bucks. Building a wall for the Greek Freak is likely, but that will open up further opportunities for Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday to thrive. Middleton is coming off a solid night against Brooklyn, scoring 26 points on 21 shots.
A KD vs Khris Middleton mid-range battle is something i could get jiggy with
— Nekias (Nuh-KY-us) Duncan (@NekiasNBA) May 2, 2021
The points line of 21.5 seems harsh on Middleton. He’s gone over that in three straight games. Expand to a bigger sample, and it’s six times in eight games. Often matched up with Kevin Durant, it can prove a challenging contest for the former Piston, but his ability to make difficult shots shouldn’t be underrated.
Another game with north of 130 points is likely between Milwaukee and Brooklyn on Tuesday. The Nets are still well-below average defensively, sitting 23rd in defensive rating over the last 10 games.

DeAndre Jordan was unable to slow down Antetokounmpo. Steve Nash may experiment more with Durant on the two-time MVP. The more attention on Giannis, the easier it will be for Middleton. He might not be flashy or dominant, but Middleton is one of the league’s most reliable scorers at this point. Against a defense as poor as Brooklyn, he’s good value to pass the 22-point mark.
- Pick: Khris Middleton over 21.5 points (-118)
