New England Patriots | -13 (-110) | -650 | U 45.5 (-110) |
Odds taken 10/22/19
Cleveland comes off a bye, and they couldn’t have asked for a more timely break. This team that had so much hype during the offseason had fallen on its face through the start of the year. They’re 2-4 at this point in the season, and they hold the same 2-4 mark against the spread as well.
Monday Night Massacre
As Cleveland comes off the bye, they could not be meeting a hotter opponent. New England is one of the NFL’s only two remaining undefeated teams, and they continued tearing through the league with a 33-0 shutout against the Jets on Monday night.
The Patriot defense continues to be one of the league’s best. They picked off Sam Darnold four times on Monday, and held him to only 86 yards and a passer rating of 3.6. The Jets gained only 2.9 yards per play, went 2-11 on 3rd down, and gained under 200 yards of offense.

Tom Brady and the offense have been playing well, but it has been the defense that has been truly elite. If that unit keeps up this pace, and Brady flips his late-season switch, this Patriot team could be headed for February once again.
How Will the Line Move?
Every metric so far points in the direction of the Patriots. They’ve got the better offense, defense, and the far better record against the spread. However, with the line being a double digits, it’s tough to see this being a situation where the number gets pounded New England’s direction.
The Browns have lost much of their positive public opinion this year, but they still have a talented roster that’s filled with a ton of pieces that just need to be put together.
For example, while the team may be struggling, Myles Garrett is the kind of pass rusher that can get to Brady and make him uncomfortable.

The Browns have had a tough start to the year, but they have the players to be competitive in games like this. At a big number like 13, this line could potentially see a small drop.
