There’s a rematch of the first Super Bowl on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs face the Green Bay Packers. However, Green Bay’s reigning NFL MVP quarterback won’t be participating.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has entered the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols and won’t be available for Sunday’s game, which is certainly making a significant impact upon the Week 9 NFL betting odds.
Also on the Week 9 dance card is the Battle of Ohio between the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. There’s also a battle to stay in the hunt for the first overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft between the 1-7 Miami Dolphins and the 1-7 Houston Texans. The 0-8 Detroit Lions are still the frontrunners in the Tank Bowl.
Which games are looking to be the biggest movers and shakers in NFL Week 9 line movement?
Let’s look at that. First, though, check out how the NFL betting lines are moving for Week 9.

Significant NFL Line Movement with Rodgers Out
A pair of games featuring quarterback uncertainty are displaying the largest spread movement during Week 9.
It was revealed midweek not only that Rodgers was out for Sunday’s game, but that he hadn’t been vaccinated for COVID-19. He had earlier answered that he had been immunized when questioned about the vaccine during a Packers media session.
His absence is causing a seismic shift in the betting action on this game. What opened as KC -2.5 has since lengthened to Chiefs -7.5.

There’s been a similar change of five points in the 49ers-Cardinals game. In this case, it’s also led to a switch in favorites. Arizona opened as the -3 chalk. The current betting line is showing San Francisco -2.
The wonky ankle of Cards QB Kyler Murray is driving this line movement. He didn’t practice Wednesday and is listed as a game-time decision.
Chiefs-Packers Going Under
The Kansas-Green Bay game is also creating the largest total move of Week 9.
The Chiefs are frequently one of the teams involved in the game featuring the week’s highest total. They looked to be a contender for that honor again when the total opened at 54.5 points for this game.
On Sunday, Jordan Love will make his first career start.
He'll be just the 8th Packers starting QB since 1992, when the team acquired Brett Favre.

With rookie Jordan Love making his first career NFL start at QB for Green Bay, oddsmakers are clearly lacking confidence in the potency of the Packers offense.
That’s causing the total to shorten to 48 points. It’s a 6.5-point swing.
Deuces Are Wild In Tiny Spreads
That two-point spread of San Francisco over Arizona gives that game 50% of the leadership in terms of the smallest point spread for a Week 9 NFL betting line.
Vegas is usually out in front of these injuries. The 49ers were 3-point underdogs as of Sunday night. That game is a pick 'em now. That type of line movement is an indication that Kyler Murray is out.

Joining them in this category are the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles. The Chargers are the two-point chalk in Philly. That’s a bold choice for an LA team that’s 1-4 straight up in its last five games played in an Eastern time zone.
Doubling Down On Bills
As they face another woeful squad in the 1-6 Jacksonville Jaguars, for the third time in five games the Buffalo Bills are a double-digit point favorite. The Bills are a 14.5-point pick over the Jags.

Buffalo was an 18.5-point choice against the Texans and covered in a 40-0 shutout victory. Miami was a 15-point underdog to the Bills last week and lost 26-11, making the game a push.
Doubling down on the Bills doesn’t seem to be a bad investment, though. Each of Buffalo’s last 12 victories have been earned by 10 or more point margins.
Smallest Total in Saints vs Falcons
When it comes to tiny total time, there was no shortage of Week 9 contenders.
As the New Orleans Saints begin life with Taysom Hill as their starting QB instead of the injured Jameis Winston, the total on their game against NFC South Division rivals the Atlanta Falcons is 42 points. But that was only low enough to earn the bronze medal.

Sam Darnold endured his share of long days against New England as QB of the New York Jets. Facing them for the first time at the helm of the Carolina Panthers, this game is assigned a total of 41 points.
But the winner is the Monday Night Football clash between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears, with a 40-point total. This game features the NFL’s #26 (Pittsburgh, 18.9 points per game) and #31 (Chicago, 15.4 ppg) scoring offenses.
Totals Adding Up For Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are becoming KC of the NFC. For the fifth time in seven games, the total in their game is in excess of 50 points.

The Rams-Titans game is set at 53.5 points, even though Tennessee with be without NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry (foot injury). That’s the largest total in the Week 9 betting lines.
