Whether it’s an NFL Sunday, College Football Saturday or weeknight full of NBA and NHL games, if you’re online you’re bound to see crazy parlays by following the right people.

Accounts run by employees of the sportsbooks as well as other content creators regularly share out big wins and wild parlays, as well as crushing bad beats and brutal losses from across the sports gambling world.

As we move into 2020, let’s take a look back and some of the biggest wins and most crushing losses from the year that was in sports gambling.

College Football Parlay Nets Bettor $367K

Week 11 was kind to a bettor at William Hill’s mobile book, as he plopped down $1,548, five-leg parlay on a few Big Ten games and the Pac-12 clash between Washington State and Cal.

While Minnesota led for most of the game, and Cal pulled away in the second half, Illinois was at one point down 31-10 before a furious 27-point fourth quarter comeback. Not exactly an easy watch for this bettor.

Believing in the Blues

One lucky St. Louis Blues fan by the name of Scott Berry plopped down a bet on his favorite hockey team in January when they were in the NHL’s basement, laying down $400 on them to win the Stanley Cup.

Berry stayed the course and is now $100k richer – about as wonderful a June could be for a sports fan, don’t you think?

Christmas Comes Early For Player

Dave Mason is one of the best follows on twitter for interesting info on line movement, betting handles for certain games, and big parlays that come in and hit as his book.

Just before Christmas he sent out the details on a bettor that hit two massive parlays. The first was a 14-team (!!) $100 parlay that netted him $97,025.

Remember to parlay some lower tier European league basketball with your next set of NFL picks if you want to strike it big!

The next parlay came with a  little more juice, as he laid down $1,500 on a 7-team NBA parlay to win $74,248.

Browns Bet Costs Customer $506K

According to ESPN’s David Purdum, William Hill New Jersey took in two bets from a player that totalled $506,000 on the Browns to cover +3.5 points against the Rams in Week 3.

As was the case for most of this season, the Browns flopped in epic fashion and the bettor was out quite the sum. Luckily enough he made a bet on the Eagles in Green Bay the following week for $275,000 as Philly won outright, 34-27.

Near Misses & Bad Beats

It always seems like a parlay is on the way to hitting before it goes up in flames at the last second, which you can find examples of on social media each day.

A last minute goal sunk the puckline, and from there Brandon’s $5 ticket to win $2,000 burst into flames.

ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt and his producer Stanford Steve also do their best to highlight the week’s worst beats that stung their audience in their highly entertaining “Bad Beats” segment.

From Week 1 all the way to Week 14, Stanford football managed to break our hearts and pull money out of our wallets.

Heading In to 2020

As the Baltimore Ravens look to continue running over the rest of the league on their way to Super Bowl 54, the sportsbooks could be looking at a big loss come the first Sunday in February.

Before Lamar Jackson’s demolition of the Dolphins in Week 1 announced to the league that Baltimore was a legitimate contender, their average odds to win the Super Bowl were as high as +4100.

With a few large bets placed by bettors across the books, they’ll be sweating out the postseason to try and avoid a big loss.
