Manchester United will open the 2013-14 Champion League season hosting the Germans Bayern Leverkusen, this Tuesday at 14:45 PM ET at Old Trafford, in group A.

This will be the first time United faces a Champions League match since 1986 without Alex Ferguson as their head coach.  It will be David Moyes first experience as a head coach in the biggest clubs tournament in the world.

Moyes had an issue this weekend with his player Ashley Young, who got booked because of diving in the 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace.

“I’ve always said I don’t like diving. He deserved to get booked. I don’t want any of my players diving — I don’t want anybody doing it. If you look at it, the boy definitely throws his leg out and Ashley’s leg goes into it. I think Ashley has put his leg into it. But I will definitely say to Ashley that it is not what I want”, Moyes said.

Bayern Leverkusen beat Wolfburg 3-1 this weekend in the Bundesliga and remained third in the standings, just behind Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, which are first and second, respectively.

“I think every victory gives us self-confidence,” Leverkusen coach Sami Hyypiä said. “Tomorrow we’ll start preparing for Manchester United.”

“We are in a difficult group, it’s important to start well, and this is a tough test. Everyone knows how strong Manchester United are, but we have the talent. If we stick to the game plan, hopefully we can get a good result,” Australia attacker Robbie Kruse said.

These two teams hadn’t faced each other since the 2001-02 season when Leverkusen eliminated the Red Devils in semi-finals, and advanced to the Champions League final played at Glasgow.

The moneyline pays Manchester United’s victory -140; a win by Leverkusen at Old Trafford +325 and a draw +270.
