  • Television actress Lori Loughlin’s college admissions scandal has been in the news almost all of 2019
  • Since the scandal broke in March, Loughlin has become more known for this controversy than her entertainment career
  • Will Lori Loughlin take a plea deal to avoid the projected jail time she’s facing?

Just as the rest of us are getting ready to rev up to the Christmas season, things aren’t exactly as holly jolly for those under the proverbial interrogation light.

Television actress Lori Loughlin was famous for her role as Becky Donaldson-Katsopolis on Full House and the current Fuller House Netflix reboot. But recent personal turmoils have diminished her public life as an entertainer and turned up the volume on her woes.

This past March, Loughlin was one of roughly 50 parents dragged into the public eye as part of a college admissions cheating scandal. Given that she (as well as actress Felicity Huffman) is one of the more well-known parents who tried to buy their children’s way into post-secondary, things have really heated up for Loughlin, and not in a good way.

It’s been quite a tumultuous ride for Loughlin in 2019. She entered the year on top of her game, grandfathered into the Fuller House narrative. Banking on her success from the ’90s family drama, her role in the spinoff was a given.

But after the cheating scandal’s news broke, Loughlin has been lampooned in the media and she’s facing serious repercussions for her actions. Turns out you can’t just solve everything in life with a quick pep talk around the dinner table from Bob Saget, I guess.

Both she and husband Mossimo Giannulli are up against a serious penalty option that could include decades in jail. Yes, you read that correctly– decades. The justice system is coming down hard on Loughlin and taking this situation extremely seriously.

Who’s Loughlin Now?

Loughlin’s attempt to get away with bribing her daughters into a school has definitely imploded right in her face.

Recent updates in the case have seen Loughlin being charged with trying “to commit federal program bribery by bribing employees of the University of Southern California (USC) to facilitate their children’s admission. In exchange for the bribes, employees of the university allegedly designated the defendants’ children as athletic recruits – with little or no regard for their athletic abilities – or as members of other favored admissions categories.” Yikes.

Though Felicity Huffman ended up only spending 14 days in a cushy jail to pay for her crimes, Loughlin’s situation is being billed as more serious and, thus, the penalties could be more severe. So there are talks Loughlin may end up taking a plea deal.

Police and Pleas, Please

Loughlin’s option for a plea deal may honestly be her best option at this point in the game. It has been months and months of legal troubles and she probably just wants to get on with her life.

The thought of spending the possibility of so much jail time is probably terrifying for someone who has coasted and been pampered with Hollywood life for so long. The very last thing Loughlin and Giannulli want is to spend the rest of their life potentially behind bars.

Striking a plea deal wouldn’t be the best care scenario, but at this point, the couple’s options are fairly limited. They certainly aren’t well-liked in the public eye or the justice system and would like to just disappear for a few years until speculation and conversation around this die down.

She’s going to take the deal if it’s on the table. Hands down.

Pick: No (-140)
