Freeman Is Struggling, Badly

Freddie Freeman put the Braves in the NLCS with a go-ahead solo homer in Game 4 of the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers. Since that at-bat, he is 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts.

Freeman is also just 1-for-8 career against Buehler (though the one hit is a home run). The reigning NL MVP isn’t immune from prolonged slumps, and this feels like the start of one. There’s value on under 0.5 hits at big plus-money (+175).

As for Buehler, himself, recent returns don’t portend a long outing with inflated strikeout numbers. He has only fanned more than five hitters once in his last nine games. That’s unusual for the 27-year-old, who has inarguably electric stuff, but it’s still enough to ride with under 5.5 Ks at -140.

Picks: Freddie Freeman under 0.5 hits (+175); Walker Buehler under 5.5 strikeouts (-140); risk 1.0 units for both

Charlie Morton Has Trea Turner’s Number

Not only is Charlie Morton prone to coming up huge in big playoff moments, his track record against Trea Turner is encouraging for the Braves. The Dodgers’ #3 hitter is just 1-for-9 against Morton with five strikeouts and no walks.

Yet, the o/u for Turner’s hits tonight is at 1.5. It’s juiced to the under (-210), but that’s still a reasonable number to wager on. While the NL batting champion has had multi-hit games in five of his eight playoff games so far, he has also been held hitless in four and is only batting .200 in October. He hasn’t been seeing the ball the same way he did throughout the regular-season.

Picks: Trea Turner under 1.5 hits (-210); risk 1.0 unit
