The Phils plan to hand Noah Syndergaard the ball here. As for Atlanta, they send veteran Charlie Morton to the hill.

Atlanta vs Philadelphia Probable Pitchers

Morton wasn’t great this season for the Braves, going 9-6 with a 4.34 ERA in 31 total starts. While the righty did strike out 205 hitters in 172 innings, he has walked 63. By the time Saturday rolls around, it’ll be 13 days since Morton last took the mound at home against the Mets.

In that outing, he allowed three earned runs. In fact, Morton has gave up nine runs in his previous two appearances. Also, the 38-year-old owns a 5.47 ERA in 2022 against the Phillies. But, he’s pitched in four elimination games before, therefore Morton isn’t afraid of the pressure.

Morton vs Syndergaard

Syndergaard is also used to the bright lights, which is definitely part of the reason Philadelphia is going with him in Game 4. The big right-hander went 10-10 this year, posting a 3.94 ERA in 25 appearances. He actually pitched a clean inning in relief in Game 2 of this series, too.

His two outings prior to that were also impressive, throwing 5.2 scoreless against Washington and two solid innings out of the pen vs. Toronto. Syndergaard hasn’t faced Atlanta this season.

Braves on the Brink of Elimination

Atlanta was always going to have it tough in that Philly atmosphere. To boot, they were up against Aaron Nola, who dominated. The Braves mustered up just six hits on the day, struggling to string together any type of consistency at the dish.

On the mound, Spencer Strider looked solid through his first two innings before giving up six runs in the third. That ended his day and it only got worse from there for Atlanta, with the bullpen allowing three more runs.

Phillies One Win Away From NLCS

For a team that barely made the playoffs, the Phillies are sitting pretty. The bats came out ready to erupt in Game 3, sending the Philly faithful into an absolute frenzy. Bryce Harper led the charge with a statement three-run bomb in that huge third inning, ultimately going 2 for 4. Nick Castellanos also had a pair of hits.

Nola meanwhile, tossed a gem. He limited the Braves to five hits and one unearned run in six impressive innings before handing it over to the pen, who held it down. The Phils are now just one win away from the NLCS. Wild.

Game 4 Braves vs Phillies Prediction

I personally think Atlanta will stay alive here. This offense is too good to be ice-cold for the second day in a row and despite Morton’s track record against Philadelphia, he’s reliable in big games.

Pick: Braves moneyline (-125)
