Braves’ Fried Should Usurp Strikeout Total
In his lone start of the 2021 postseason, Braves left-hander Max Fried fanned nine Milwaukee batters. He worked six innings and got the win in a 3-0 victory over the Brewers.
In two starts against the Dodgers in last season’s NLCS, Fried struck out nine in one game and five in the other. He’s gone over 4.5 strikeouts in four of his five career postseason starts. Fried has worked at least six innings in four of those five playoff starts.
In Max Fried's past four starts, all crucial #Braves wins at San Franciso and San Diego, at home against the Phillies and Saturday in Game 2, Fried is 4-0 with a 0.31 ERA, allowing just one earned run and 13 hits in 29 innings, with 24 strikeouts and one walk.

The lone exception was a four-inning stint against the Miami Marlins in last year’s NLDS. Fried was touched for six hits and four earned runs over four innings while striking out four.
Including his postseason appearance against the Brewers, Fried has struck out at least five batters in seven of his last eight starts and 17 of the last 19 times he’s toed the rubber on the mound. Through 29 starts in 2021, Fried has gone over 4.5 strikeouts 21 times. Of those eight times in which he ended up failing to clear the 4.5-strikeout barrier, six occurred prior to June 13.
Pick: Max Fried over 4.5 strikeouts (+100).
Dodgers Know Joc-tober Well
They call this season Joc-tober, because when the leaves fall, hits fall in for Joc Pederson. Up until this year, Pederson did his playoff slashing for the Dodgers. Acquired by the Braves this season, the perennial playoff powerhouse at the plate will be looking to thwart his old club. In last season’s NLCS, Pederson homered and hit .389 against the Braves. He’s carried on his playoff prowess for Atlanta. In the NLDS against Milwaukee, Pederson went 3-for-7 (.429) with a pair of homers and five RBI.

Speaking of playoff legends, LA third baseman Justin Turner is continuing to build on his legacy. The Dodgers all-time postseason leader in just about every offensive category, Turner is 5-for-10 (.500) with a solo homer when facing Fried.
Dodgers second baseman Trea Turner is a lifetime .333 (7-for-21) hitter against Fried, including a homer and two RBI. Braves leftfielder Eddie Rosario is a .353 hitter against the Dodgers with two homers in 17 at-bats. He hit .308 (4-for-13) with two RBI in the NLDS against Milwaukee.
Picks: Joc Pederson over 0.5 hits (-160); Justin Turner over 0.5 hits (-225).
