  • The MLB season rolls on Friday with 15 games
  • Player props are available for many of the league’s biggest stars
  • See below to find out where we think the betting value lies

MLB rolls into the weekend with a 15-game slate, but just one of the contests is taking place before 7:05 pm ET. That of course is the Pirates-Cubs tilt from Wrigley Field at 2:20 pm ET, which should feature plenty of offense given the struggles of both team’s projected starting pitchers.

Player props are available for a handful of the games so far, so check out the odds below plus a few bets to target.

All odds as of May 7th.

Prop #1: Zac Gallen Over 5.5 Strikeouts

The first prop to target is over 5.5 strikeouts for Arizona’s Zac Gallen. The 25-year-old has produced an impressive 11.76 K/9 rate this season, and has exceeded 5 strikeouts in all four of his starts. Last time out, he whiffed seven Colorado batters in just 4 innings, so even if his start is cut short, he has the potential to easily eclipse this total.

The matchup versus the Mets is tough, as New York is extremely disciplined at the plate, but Gallen’s increased velocity this season, combined with his career 31% swinging plus called strike rate should give bettors confidence.

Pick: Zac Gallen Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-150)

Prop #2: Kris Bryant 2+ Hits

The next prop to target is two or more hits for the Cubs Kris Bryant. Chicago’s third baseman is off to a fantastic start this season posting a .308 average, and the fifth best OPS in the NL (1.068). He’s 1-for-1 lifetime versus Pittsburgh starter Trevor Cahill, and his 44.9% hard hit rate is the highest of his career, as is his 15.4% barrel rate.

Speaking of Cahill, the right-hander has allowed at least 7 hits in three of his past five starts, and sports an ugly 9.00 road ERA in 2021.

Pick: Kris Bryant 2+ Hits (+260)
