Harrison vs Guardado Picks & Prediction

Kayla Harrison is the reigning 2019 PFL lightweight champion – there was no 2020 season – and is looking to cash another $1 million cheque and become one of the biggest free agents in MMA history. In her way of all that is Taylor Guardado, who made a surprising run to the finals.

Harrison & Guardado Recent Fights

Harrison
VS
Guardado
Genah Fabian, win by TKO Fight 1 Mariana Morais, win by split decision
Cindy Dandois, win by submission Fight 2 Laura Sanchez, win by decision
Mariana Morais, win by TKO Fight 3 Helena Kolesnyk, win by decision
Courtney King, win by TKO Fight 4 Taneisha Tenant, loss by decision

As you can see by the PFL odds, this fight should not be competitive at all. The two-time Olympic Judo gold medalist should be able to have her way with Guardado. However, it is MMA, and one punch can end the fight.

Harrison & Guardado Stats

Harrison

Guardado

5’8″ Height 5’6″
66″ Reach 69″
9 Career finishes 0

Harrison will likely look to take Guardado down right away and look to get the early finish. Guardado is just not on the level of Harrison, and she won’t be able to keep the Olympic gold medalist off of her. Once the undefeated fighter gets the fight to the ground, she will either get a submission win or TKO win in the first round to become the PFL champ once again.

To get better odds, look for Harrison in Round 1 and Harrison inside the distance when they become available in the PFL odds.

Pick: Kayla Harrison (-3000)

Magomedkerimov vs Cooper Picks & Prediction

Magomed Magomedkerimov vs Ray Cooper III is the fight many fans want to see, as this should’ve been the 2019 final but Magomedkerimov wasn’t medically cleared so Cooper III fought David Michaud where he won to become the champ.

Magomedkerimov & Cooper III Recent Fights

Magomedkerimov
VS
Cooper III
Saidbou Sy, win by decision Fight 1 Rory MacDonald, win by decision
Curtis Millender, win by submission Fight 2 Nikolay Aleksakhin, win by decision
Chris Curtis, win by decision Fight 3 Jason Ponet, win by submission
Chris Curtis, win by decision Fight 4 David Michaud, win by TKO

Magomedkerimov and Cooper III actually fought in the PFL in 2018, and Magomedkerimov was able to get a second-round submission win. In this fight, I don’t expect anything to change as the Russian is too good on the ground and will be able to get Cooper III to the mat and beat him up with strikes until eventually, he exposes his neck, which he grabs ahold of and gets the submission win.

At the current price, Magomedkerimov holds value at -220 in the PFL odds. I think he should be a -350 favorite, but Magomedkerimov inside the distance is also worth a look.

Other PFL World Championship Fights:

  1. Claressa Shields (-335): This is a non-tournament bout as Shields is set for her 2nd MMA fight, and she’ll be able to keep it standing and eventually get a KO win.
  2. Ante Delija (+185): Delija lost by KO in under a minute to Cappelozza earlier this year, but I expect Delija to make the adjustments and get a late TKO win in the fourth round.
  3. Movlid Khaybulaev (-190): Khaybulaev will be able to take Wade down at will, and earn a hard-fought decision win.
  4. Antonio Carlos Junior (-195): This is on the prelims, but is a championship bout and I like Carlos Junior to submit Hamlet early into the fight.
  5. Raush Manfio (+170): This is on the prelims but is a championship bout, and it will be back-and-forth, but I lean towards Manfio doing enough on the feet to win a decision.
