Can Tate Win at UFC Vegas 43?

Miesha Tate surprised many when she announced she would be ending her retirement as she retired in 2016. She did return prior to UFC Vegas 43 with a stoppage win over Marion Reneau. She now takes on Ketlen Vieira who is just 1-2 in her last three but is dangerous on the ground.

Vieira vs Tate Recent Fights

Vieira
VS
Tate
Yana Kunitskaya, loss by decision Fight 1 Marion Reneau, win by TKO
Sijara Eubanks, win by decision Fight 2 Raquel Pennington, loss by decision
Irene Aldana, loss by KO Fight 3 Amanda Nunes, loss by submission (title fight)
Cat Zingano, win by split decision Fight 4 Holly Holm, win by submission (title fight)

I’ve never been impressed with Vieira despite some viewing her as a future title contender as I’ve picked against her in all three of her past fights. She has solid jiu-jitsu, however, her striking defense is not great and she has been gassed in three-round fights. However, the Tate isn’t the top contender like she was in the past, which makes it an intriguing matchup.

As the UFC Vegas 43 odds suggest, this is an evenly matched fight, and it will be interesting to see how they match up against each other. Early on, I expect Vieira to have success with her grappling. Yet, as she slows down, which she usually does, Tate will start having finishing success on the floor and on the feet. On the feet, Tate will be able to piece up the Brazilian as Vieira starts to slow down, Tate will either win a clear-cut decision or get a late stoppage.

In the UFC Vegas 43 odds, I like Tate at -115 as I think she could be near a -150 favorite or higher. You could also look at taking a small shot at Tate inside the distance to get better value, but playing her straight is the best way to attack this main event. Tate is the way to go with your UFC Vegas 43 pick.

Pick: Miesha Tate (-115)

Does Brady Remain Undefeated at UFC Vegas 43?

Michael Chiesa was just in a potential number one contender bout at welterweight, and after losing to Vicente Luque, he will now have to fight the undefeated Sean Brady who’s a dark horse in the division.

Chiesa & Brady Recent Fights

Chiesa
VS
Brady
Vicente Luque, loss by submission Fight 1 Jake Matthews, win by submission
Neil Magny, win by decision Fight 2 Christian Aguilera, win by submission
Rafael dos Anjos, win by decision Fight 3 Ismail Naurdiev, win by decision
Diego Sanchez, win by decision Fight 4 Court McGee, win by decision

Both Chiesa and Brady are great grapplers which, makes this fight so intriguing. Although Chiesa is known for his grappling, he often makes critical mistakes which leaves him to get subbed. Against Brady, he can’t make those mistakes, but I expect the undefeated fighter to be the stronger and better wrestler and will control Chiesa on the ground and eventually find the submission.

Brady offers solid value at -155 in the UFC Vegas 43 odds, but you could also look at Brady inside the distance or Brady by submission as a solid prop bet for your UFC Vegas 43 card.

Pick: Sean Brady (-155)

Other UFC Vegas 43 Picks:

  1. Kyung Ho Kang (-110): I like Kang to be able to keep this fight standing and win a decision. -110 isn’t a bad price to pay for Kang.
  2. Talia Santos (-310): Santos will be able to control Wood on the ground and either get a late stoppage or dominant decision. Santos is a solid parlay piece for this weekend.
  3. Adrian Yanez (-265): Yanez is a phenomenal striker and will be able to land clean shots and eventually find the KO win. Look for Yanez by KO/TKO or parlay Yanez and Santos.
