  • The complete Nets vs Clippers odds are listed below, along with injury news, analysis and best bets

After starting slow, both the Nets (5-7, 2-3 away) and Clippers (7-5, 3-3 home) are starting to turn things around. For Brooklyn, the change started once Jacques Vaughan took over as head coach. At first it was on an interim basis, but now he’s got the gig full-time.

LA on the other hand, have been on fire since Halloween, losing only once in six outings. Oddsmakers expect their strong play to continue on Saturday versus the Nets, as the Clippers opened up as the chalk in the NBA odds.

Los Angeles Clippers Betting Analysis

The most impressive thing about LA’s current run is the fact they’re doing it without Kawhi Leonard. The two-time Finals MVP hasn’t played since October 23rd due to reoccurring knee issues, and will sit out Saturday’s tilt as well.

The Clippers started 1-3 without Leonard this season, but have since reeled off five wins in six games with him on the sidelines. Paul George has been the catalyst, averaging over 30 points, five rebounds and five assists in his last six games.

George led the offense with 29 points on Wednesday in a 114-101 victory over the Lakers, as he and the Clippers beat them for a ninth straight time. Norman Powell added 18 points, while seven players in total scored in double figures.

LA shot over 50% from the field for the second straight game, which is a big improvement over their season long stats. The Clippers rank 29th in offensive rating and dead last in points per game (104.7).

With disappointing offensive numbers like that, LA’s defense has been forced to step up to keep them in games. The Clippers enter play ranked sixth in scoring defense, sixth in opponent field goal percentage and fourth in defensive rating. They’ve held four of their past six opponents to 106 points or less, while unders have dominated their contests – more on that later.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

Brooklyn meanwhile, has won three of four including Wednesday’s 112-85 blowout over New York. Kevin Durant led the way with a triple-double (29 points, 12 assists, 12 rebounds), becoming the first player since Michael Jordan to score at least 25 points in each of his team’s first 12 games.

The Nets have now beaten their state rival in eight-straight times, while Durant is 13-0 in his last 13 meetings with the Knicks. Seth Curry splashed a season-high 23 points, and Edmond Sumner finished with a season-high 18 points in place of Kyrie Irving.

Speaking of Irving, Saturday’s contest will mark the end of his team imposed five-game suspension, but there’s no word yet on when he’ll rejoin the team.

While Durant and Co. were extremely efficient on offense against New York, the real story was Brooklyn’s defense. The Nets held the Knicks to 32% from the field, and 28% from three. They blocked five shots and racked up 11 steals, while holding New York to only 30 points in the paint.

Brooklyn has now held each of its past four opponents below 100 points, something they hadn’t previously done since the 2014-15 season.

Nets vs Clippers Prediction

It makes sense that the Nets have ramped up the defensive intensity as Vaughan was known much more for his defense when he was in the league. It’s also no coincidence that they’re playing their best defense of the season without Irving, who’s never shown a ton of interest at that end of the floor.

Each of Brooklyn’s last four games have come in under the total, the last three by an average of 27 points per outing. Eight of their 12 contests have failed to clear the total this season, and only two teams have seen a greater percentage of their games go under.

NBA Top-5 Under Teams

Team Under Record Under % Total +/-
LA Clippers 10-2 83.3% -9.6
Portland Trail Blazers 8-3-1 72.7% -6.9
Brooklyn Nets 8-4 66.7% -8.5
Minnesota Timberwolves 8-4 66.7% -0.5
Milwaukee Bucks 7-4 63.6% -4.6

One of those squads is the Clippers, who are 10-2 to the under. The under is 6-1 in LA’s past seven contests, and the way both teams are playing defense at the moment, this matchup should underwhelm offensively as well.

Pick: Under 212 (-110)
