It’s a quiet evening by NBA standards on February 11th. Only five games are on the slate for Thursday evening, though some of the league’s biggest stars are expected to take the court. MVP candidates Joel Embiid and Steph Curry face the Blazers, and Magic, respectively.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will lead the Celtics in a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference semifinals with the Toronto Raptors.

Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler are available for the Miami Heat as they look to dig themselves out of their early season hole.

Draymond Makes Plays

Draymond Green has been putting up some unique numbers this season. His production has become even greater since sliding to the five with James Wiseman and Kevon Looney injured. Green is averaging a career-high 7.8 assists per contest, which makes the 7.5 line for Thursday’s game look reasonable.

A quick look at Green’s recent performances makes that look like a can’t-lose bet, though. Green has posted double figure assists in each of his last four games, good for an average of 12.75 dimes per contest over that span. The Warriors are hitting 43.6% of their threes over their last four games. Their 29.8 assists per outing leads the league over this period.

Green’s importance to Golden State cannot be overstated. The Warriors are playing through him whenever possible. Whether running actions from Green in the high post, using him as a passer off the short roll or running the fast break, the three-time All-Star is dissecting defenses with clinical efficiency.

The Warriors face a Magic team which owns the 23rd-ranked defense in the NBA. This could be another big night for Golden State’s offense. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Green record double figures assists again – the over at 7.5 is the best player prop bet of the day.

  • Pick: Draymond Green over 7.5 assists (+100)

Harris From Deep

Tobias Harris has made just two threes over his last three games. He’s three for his last 12 from deep. Those stats explain why the line is as low as 1.5 for three-point makes against the Blazers. He also had one of his worst games of the season against Portland a few days ago, scoring just 12 points.

Harris’ recent performances don’t make the over seem like a good bet. He’s a better shooter than recent results, though, and he’s made two or more threes in 15 of his 22 appearances this season. The former Clipper is still comfortably above 40% from outside on the season, and he faces a Portland team which ranks in the bottom third of the league in quantity of opponent three-point attempts. Harris will get plenty of opportunities to shoot from deep.

The previous performance against the Blazers can be viewed as an anomaly. It was not only a poor night from Harris, it was an awful performance from the Sixers without Ben Simmons and Seth Curry. Harris’ role is simpler with Simmons and Curry back. The Sixers are yet to lose with all of their starting five available.

After a 25-point quarter from Joel Embiid, the Blazers threw everything at the All-Star center in their previous matchup. The non-Embiid Sixers were unable to generate sufficient offense. They will find it much easier to score with Simmons and Curry returning – Harris could get a lot of open looks. Over 1.5 threes is great value.

  • Pick: Tobias Harris over 1.5 threes (-128)
