  • The NBA season rolls on Friday with nine games
  • Player props are available for many of the league’s biggest stars
  • See below to find out where we think the betting value lies

Friday’s NBA slate is absolutely loaded. There are nine games on the docket, with some of the league’s top teams and biggest stars hitting the hardwood. The top-two teams in the West, Utah and the LA Clippers, will both see action, while six of the clubs occupying a playoff spot in the East will also suit up.

There’s also injuries to monitor which will greatly affect the slate, and potentially open up major value in the player props market. One situation in particular to pay attention to is in Oklahoma City, where the Thunder will face the Minnesota Timberwolves without three key starters.

Odds taken Feb. 5th from FanDuel.

Prop #1: Hamidou Diallo Over 17.5 Points

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort and George Hill will sit out on Friday, giving increased playing time and opportunity to Hamidou Diallo. The third-year shooting guard out of Kentucky has seen the biggest bump to his usage rate with SGA and Dort off the court this season, and is line to play 30+ minutes in this gravy matchup.

With SGA sidelined on Wednesday, Diallo drew the start versus the Houston Rockets and played 33 minutes in a blowout win. He racked up 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals easily beating his projections for the evening. He’s shooting 53.9% from the floor this season, and has multiple 20-point performances already. The Timberwolves meanwhile, rank 25th in scoring defense and only seven teams surrender a higher field goal percentage to enemy shooters on a nightly basis.

Pick: Hamidou Diallo Over 17.5 points (-106)

Prop #2: Giannis Antetokounmpo Under 27.5 Points

It may seem crazy to fade Giannis Antetokounmpo in this spot, but there are reasons to believe Milwaukee may dial back his minutes tonight. They’re a 10.5-point favorite versus Cleveland for one, and this is the first game of a back-to-back.

The matchup against the Cavaliers isn’t sparkling either, as they rank second in the East in scoring defense, while Giannis has been underwhelming in Bucks victories lately.

Antetokounmpo has cleared 27 points in just one of Milwaukee’s last seven victories, and is averaging just 23.6 points per outing over that stretch. With Kris Middleton playing at an elite level and the addition of Jrue Holliday to the mix, Giannis’ offensive load has been lightened significantly, and he’s not shooting nearly as much as he used to. Case in point, he’s taken just 19 shots total in the Bucks last two victories, both blowouts.

Pick: Giannis Antetokounmpo Under 27.5 points (-118)
