Odds as of Jan 31 at FanDuel Sportsbook
With Joel Embiid now the favorite in MVP odds at certain books, he’s projected for a massive night of over 30 points and double-digit rebounds.
Miami Locks Up Jayson Tatum
Jayson Tatum scored just 10 points on 13 shots when he last faced the Heat. While the All-Star has enjoyed some big nights of late, averaging over 34 across his last five games, he has also had some less successful games, including a five-for-17 against Atlanta just a few days ago.
It’s no secret that Tatum is facing an elite Miami defense. They are ninth in defensive rating this month. Lineups with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are locking up opponents, and when P.J. Tucker is thrown into the mix, they have three top-tier defenders to throw at Tatum. Groups with Adebayo and Tucker are a +5.9 for the season in over 550 minutes.
Tatum has torched some subpar defenses of late in Washington, Sacramento and New Orleans. In his last two games against good defensive teams (New York and Philadelphia), he has gone way under this points line.
Even with his recent scoring outbursts, Tatum averages 26.2 points per game on the season. He’s at just 24.7 at home.
This line is at least a point too high. Take the under.
- Pick: Jayson Tatum under 26.5 points (-116)
Siakam Puts Up Big Numbers
Toronto has the 11th best offense in 2022. While Fred VanVleet has been superb, Pascal Siakam has really stepped up for Toronto. He has been a swiss army knife for Nick Nurse, operating everywhere from smallball five to point guard.
At a career-high in assist rate, Siakam is contributing in all facets of the game. He’s averaging 22.4, 8.7 and 6.5 in January. That comes in at an average of 37.6 points, rebounds and assists per game this month, which is not only one of the better marks in the league, but also considerably above the 34.5 line set for Monday night’s game.
FanDuel has Siakam at -111 for over 34.5 points, rebounds and assists against a Hawks team which ranks bottom-10 in defense since the turn of the year. They are also fifth-worst in rebounding rate in the same period, and have conceded the fourth-most assists per game on the season.

Siakam has hit this over in three of his last four. Go back a bit further and it’s seven of 11 games. Given the opponent, there’s value on this over up to 35.5.
- Pick: Pascal Siakam over 34.5 points, rebounds and assists (-111)
