  • Four NBA games are on Sunday’s schedule
  • Devin Booker, Nikola Jokic, Trae Young and Damian Lillard are all in action
  • Which player props represent the best betting value?

Sunday’s NBA schedule is quieter than usual. There are only four games on the slate, but that doesn’t mean a shortage in NBA player props. There are All-Stars galore with Devin Booker and Chris Paul taking on the Hornets in the early game. The Toronto Raptors matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers, giving Gary Trent Jr and Norm Powell an opportunity to face their former teams.

MVP favorite Nikola Jokic leads the Nuggets against the resurgent Atlanta Hawks. A depleted Orlando Magic wrap up the day’s action facing the Lakers, who are still without LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Odds taken on Mar 28 .

Harrell’s Increased Role

Although still coming off the bench, Montrezl Harrell’s role on the Lakers has grown significantly. He’s played 29 or more minutes in eight of the last 10 games. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year is averaging over 13 shots per game over that span, which is four shots more than his season rate.

The Lakers are facing the remnants of the Orlando Magic. Following a trade deadline teardown, Orlando’s roster is a random collection of players, a group which is severely overmatched even against the undermanned Lakers. With no James or Davis, Harrell has been the Lakers’ lead scorer, and he’s stepped up in a big way since James suffered a high ankle sprain against the Hawks. The former Clipper has scored 18 or more in every game since then.

Harrell put up 24 points on 15 shots in Friday’s win over the Cavaliers. He’s only been under 50% from the field in one game since the start of March. Orlando has thrown the towel in on this season, and the relentless hustle of Harrell is the last thing they’ll want to face.

Season data isn’t of much use for the Magic. The team that will face the Lakers on Sunday is barely comparable to the group which has played the majority of this season. Even before the trades, though, there had been a dropoff in their defense. They rank 24th in defensive rating over their last five games.

Although he’s only gone over 20.5 points 10 times this season, Harrell’s over total is a good bet on Sunday night. Six of those games with 21 or more points have been in March.

Pick: Montrezl Harrell over 20.5 points (-110)

CP3 Delivers

As has been the case over the last few years of his career, Chris Paul’s scoring has fluctuated. While his effectiveness doesn’t wane, Paul’s role alters on a night-to-night basis. His shot creation never drops off, however, with the All-Star point guard registering seven or more dimes in eight of his last nine games.

The Suns face a Hornets defense which ranks 20th over the last five games. Charlotte ranks last in the NBA in opponent assists for the season. This young roster is not short on effort defensively, yet they can be pulled across the court by good ball movement. Any misjudged rotations will be exploited by Paul, one of the great offensive orchestrators in the history of the game.

Charlotte is 29th in opponent three-point shooting on the season. Phoenix ranks eighth in three-point shooting percentage, many of which are catch-and-shoot looks off Paul passes. The former Thunder guard sits fifth in assist points created for the season.

Paul has scored 18 or more in five of his last seven games. Notching seven-plus assists is a given. Hitting the points and assists over looks a great value bet for this game, particularly with Paul scoring 20 when the teams met earlier in the season.

Pick: Chris Paul over 24.5 points and assists (-118)
