Odds as of May 18th

PJ Fills up the Stat Sheet

PJ Washington’s second year in the NBA mirrored his first with an uptick in some of the defensive categories. He seems to be comfortable in his role and more importantly, the Charlotte Hornets are comfortable with him. He is a versatile big who can impact games in a few different areas which makes him a fun target in the prop market.

Washington has two different attack surfaces tonight, one of which is in the assist market. At 2.5 +136, his number is ripe. In the Hornets’ last game against the Wizards, Washington dished out four dimes. Over his last five games, he’s seen 5.4 potential assists per contest.

Only one team in the NBA plays has played as fast as the Indiana Pacers this season which is good for Washington. In three games against the Pacers this season, he had at least three assists in two of them. He finished with two in the other game. He is firmly in play in the assist market tonight, but that’s not the only area.

In Washington’s last 19 games, he’s hit at least two three-pointers in 15 of them. Over his last four games, he’s taken at least five in all of them and as many as nine in two of them. We should be chasing volume and if Washington is going to be shooting 5+ threes, he’s a pretty safe bet to hit two of them.

  • The Pick: Washington OVER 2.5 Assists (+136) and Washington OVER 1.5 Made Threes (-120)

Fournier Passes Too

While the masses will be tripping over themselves to take some of the Celtics’ players three-point props, we should consider the assist market. Specifically, Evan Fournier’s assist number. He is certainly a three-point guy, but lately he looks like an undercover facilitator as well.

Over the Fournier’s last four games, he’s topped four assists in three of them. He’s gone for at least six in all of those games. While it’s likely that he takes seven plus three-point attempts tonight, it’s just as likely that he dishes out at least four assists. At +116, that feels like a good spot for bettors.

  • The Pick: Fournier OVER 3.5 Assists (+116)
