But the series price flipped – and then some – after Game 1; the Knicks are now -285 favorites to advance to the second round in the NBA playoff bracket, with the 76ers at +225 to overcome their early deficit.

Balanced Knicks Offense Spearheads Game 1 Victory

Three New York players finished with at least 20 points in Saturday’s Game 1 win. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart had 22 each while Miles McBride added 21 off the bench. The Knicks’ incessant rebounding was the real key victory. New York finished a preposterous +22 on the glass (55 to 33), propelled by a game-high 13 rebounds from Hart, allowing the Knicks to emerge victorious despite shooting just 39.6% from the field (compared to 44.4% for the Sixers).

The Knicks are now 4-1 against the 76ers this year, including the regular season, and 2-0 when Joel Embiid plays.

Embiid had 29 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the Game 1 loss but shot just 8-of-22 from the floor (36.4%). Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 33 points on 14-of-26 shooting.

This is proving a tough matchup for the Sixers. The Knicks are faster and more athletic under the basket and it’s going to be extremely difficult for Philadelphia to keep New York off the glass. The Knicks led the entire NBA in rebound percentage during the regular season, so it’s not like Saturday’s performance was an anomaly.

At the same time, Embiid can play much better than he did in Game 1, and the Knicks only went three deep into their bench with Brunson and Hart both playing over 40 minutes. Fatigue could start to play a role.
