Spurs vs 76ers Betting Preview
Philadelphia made a flurry of notable moves in the offseason but so far, it hasn’t helped. They lost to the Celtics on Opening Night and then dropped their second game of the campaign on Thursday to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, 90-88.
That contest truly came down to the wire as Wesley Matthews hit a go-ahead triple with just 24 seconds left for the Bucks. James Harden marched down the court and attempted a game-winning jumper but couldn’t convert.
Nonetheless, The Beard had another fantastic night, going off for 31 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. That was Harden’s second game of 30+, also erupting for 35 points against the Celtics on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Joel Embiid went for just 15 points and 12 rebounds, while youngster Tyrese Maxey contributed 15 as well. Philly struggled immensely to shoot the ball from deep, draining a putrid 21% of their triples. The Sixers were pedestrian at times defensively too, especially in the third, getting outscored 26-18.
While the Spurs will obviously be a much easier task than Milwaukee, it’s an opportunity for Doc Rivers’ squad to not only get a much-needed win but also find their defensive identity.
Spurs Win on Friday Night
The Spurs grabbed their first victory of the year on Friday in a high-scoring affair with the Indiana Pacers, 137-134. This was a fantastic performance offensively, with five different players finishing in double-figures. Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell dropped 23 points apiece in the first unit, while Josh Richardson led the team with 27 off the bench.

If you want to talk about a team that was scorching hot from deep, it was San Antonio. They went 17 for 33 from long range (55%) and also shot 54% from the field. Richardson was 6 for 8 on his own.
The Spurs did a terrific job of moving the ball around, dishing out 34 total assists which resulted in countless clean looks from all over the floor.

After losing to the Hornets in blowout fashion in their opener, San Antonio definitely bounced back with authority. Hopefully, they can carry the momentum into Philly.
Defensively, Gregg Popovich’s group will need to be a lot more solid, allowing an average of 131.5 points through their first two outings and that was against the Pacers and Hornets, who do not possess the same type of scoring talent as the 76ers.
Spurs vs 76ers Prediction
What I’m looking at here is how poor the Spurs’ defense has been. Philly just faced a pair of teams who are phenomenal at containing their opponents. That is not the case with San Antonio.
The spread looks steep, but I have faith the Sixers will respond in a big way and give the Wells Fargo faithful something to cheer about. Expect a statement win.
