Monday’s jam-packed NBA slate will start with a cross-conference afternoon matchup between the Devin Booker-less Phoenix Suns (20-17, 6-12 away) and the New York Knicks (19-18, 8-10 home) at the iconic Madison Square Garden. The tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm ET. Keep reading for the Suns vs Knicks odds.

The Suns are currently losers of two in a row, most recently falling to the Toronto Raptors on Friday up North. As for NY,  they beat the rebuilding Houston Rockets by 20 points on Saturday behind a standout performance from Julius Randle.

The Knicks are a slim 1-point home favorite here with moneyline odds of -110 and have gone 8-8 as an ATS favorite in 2022-23. The Suns come back at -106 and hold a record of 6-4 as an ATS underdog.

Phoenix is currently enjoying an epic nine-game winning streak against New York dating back to December of 2018. Certainly, something to keep an eye on, regardless of Booker’s absence.

Phoenix Trying to Get by Without Book

For a team that won 64 games a season ago, it hasn’t been a great start to the campaign for Phoenix, sitting just three games above .500 at the moment. Booker is currently sidelined for a few more weeks after reaggravating his groin injury and with sharpshooter Cameron Johnson also out with a knee issue, there’s a lack of scoring prowess in the Suns NBA lineup tonight. On a more positive note, Cam Payne returns from a nine-game absence Monday, which gives the rotation a nice boost.

On Friday in Toronto, Chris Paul dropped 20 points and dished out 12 assists to lead the way, while Miles Bridges added 21, too. Deandre Ayton had a very rough night, however, contributing a mere four points and seven boards in 30 minutes of action.

And while the Suns did shoot 47% from deep and held their own in numerous areas, they committed 25 turnovers. The Raps scored 35 points off Phoenix’s mistakes. Needless to say, it was the difference-maker. Monty Williams’ squad needs to make much better care of the rock Monday and Ayton must take initiative and be a focal point of the offense. Without Booker, his role is even more crucial.

Knicks Coming Down to Earth

New York was red-hot for the first couple of weeks in December, scratching off eight consecutive victories while beating the likes of Chicago, Golden State, and Cleveland. But, they’ve cooled off since, losing five of their last six. In fact, the Knicks dropped five straight prior to the big win in Houston over the weekend.

Randle proved to be the leading catalyst, balling out for 35 points, 12 boards, and six dimes. The big man did a nice job of taking the bull by the horns offensively with Jalen Brunson unavailable due to a sore hip and RJ Barrett out with a finger injury. Immanuel Quickley also had 27 points and seven assists, while Quentin Grimes added 19. The young guards flourished in place of two of the team’s primary options.

For Monday’s contest, Brunson is questionable to feature while Barrett is officially sidelined. That could very well mean Quickley and Grimes will be relied upon to step up again.

Suns vs Knicks Prediction

Whether Brunson plays or not, I’m liking Phoenix here. Between their recent dominance of New York and the Knicks’ rotation potentially missing two key figures, they’re a solid moneyline pick.

Pick: Suns moneyline (-106)
