Oral Roberts’s epic unbeaten season in conference play continues on Tuesday as they meet up with North Dakota State in the Summit League Championship in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 pm ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The Golden Eagles weren’t at their best on Monday in the semifinals but still took down St. Thomas 70-65 behind another big performance from star guard Max Abmas. The Bison meanwhile beat South Dakota State, advancing to their fifth final in a row. However, NDSU has lost in the previous two.

Oral Roberts a Force to be Reckoned With

Sure, Oral Roberts is a mid-major, but this team is extremely solid and more than capable of making a run in the March Madness bracket. Remember, they did just that in 2021, advancing all the way to the Sweet Sixteen, beating top-10 programs in Ohio State and Florida.

However, first, the Golden Eagles need to get past North Dakota State, a team they’ve already beaten twice in 2022-23. Abmas, who starred during the 2021 NCAA Tournament, is having another fine campaign in his senior year and filled up the stat sheet against St. Thomas, scoring 23 points to lead the way.

The real difference-maker for Oral Roberts is big man Connor Vanover, who came over from Arkansas in search of more minutes. The center is definitely proving his worth, averaging 12.6 points, 7.1 boards, and 3.2 blocks. He collected 17 and 11 in the semifinals to go along with five swats.

The Golden Eagles posted their second-lowest point total in conference play versus St. Thomas and even trailed at half but managed to get some key buckets from Abmas and Vanover down the stretch.

Can Bison Get it Done?

The third time is a charm, right? 2021 and 2022 saw North Dakota State in the Summit League Championship Game and on the verge of making the Big Dance after earning berths in 2019 and 2020, although the latter was canceled due to COVID-19. But since then, it’s been heartbreak for the Bison.

South Dakota State eliminated them in last year’s final and NDSU eventually got revenge on Monday with an 89-79 win. Grant Nelson was the star of the show here, scoring 20 points and bringing down a whopping 22 rebounds as the Bison dominated on the glass. Guard Boden Skunberg also dropped 24 points on a 4 for 8 clip from deep.

In fact, North Dakota State shot an impressive 40% from long range and 56% from the field. Overall, it was a clean game of basketball except for the 12 turnovers. They will need to fix that up against Oral Roberts, who will surely take advantage.

Oral Roberts vs North Dakota State Prediction

The Golden Eagles beat NDSU by an average of 15.5 points in their two meetings this season. 10.5 points might feel steep, but I expect Oral Roberts to win this one convincingly.

Pick: Oral Roberts -10.5 (-110)
